As written above, history should not be forgotten.
ICAIOS - one of the research center in Aceh has one program that enable people from many different age and background to learn the history, local wisdom, and what the local have at the moment, it's called “Wet-Wet Gampong”
Jangan pernah melupakan sejarah
Seperti yang tertulis di atas, jangan pernah melupakan sejarah.
ICAOS - Salah satu pusat studi yang ada di Aceh memiliki satu program yang memungkinkan siapa aja untuk ikut serta belajar tentang sejarah Aceh, kearifan lokalnya, dan apa yang mereka miliki saat ini. Program ini disebut dengan “Wet-Wet Gampong”
“Wet-Wet Gampong” literally means going around the village. In this sense, it's not only going around the village, but also get to know their history too.
Gampong Pande is well know as the place where the program frequently held. This village is believe to be the starting point of Banda Aceh as well as the first point of Kingdom of Aceh.
“Wet-Wet Gampong” bisa diartikan sebagai jalan-jalan mengelilingi kampung. Dalam hal ini, berkeliling kampung di sini juga diartikan sembari belajar mengenai sejarah yang ada.
Gampong Pande cukup dikenal sebagai lokasi yang paling sering dijadikan pusat kegiatan Wet-Wet Gampong ini. Lokasi ini juga dipercaya sebagai titik 0 Kota Banda Aceh sekaligus tempat awal mula berdirinya kerajaan Aceh.
It can be seen from number of graveyard here. From the kings to the queens to the princess and princes. You will find lots of story from them. It doesn't mean that all of them are from this place, they might be from different part of the world. What make them different can be seen from the shape of tombstone
It is also believed that it's not certain in every graveyard there is body down there, but that was way people hide their wealth. Well, that's what people believed.
Hal ini terlihat dari banyaknya kuburan para raja, ratu, pengeran, Putri dan orang-orang kerajaan yang bersemayam di sini. Tidak semua yang dikuburkan berasal dari desa ini, banyak pula yang berasal dari daerah lain. Hal ini dapat dibedakan dari bentuk batu nisannya
Selain itu, dipercaya juga bahwa tidak semua kuburan ada mayatnya. Artinya batu nisan digunakan sebagai penanda lokasi masyarakat menyimpan kekayaannya. Katanya begitu
Beside learning history , the participant also can take a closer look to the home-based business, where they use the leafs of palm tree to make a leaf - cigarate. Its traditional one.
Also, we get a chance to enjoy nira - type of palm tree , as well as lunch with the food cooked by the local ladies. It tastes really great.
Selain belajar sejarah, peserta Wet-Wet Gampong juga dapat melihat usaha kecil masyarakat sekitar yang memanfaatkan daun pohon nira sebagai bahan utama untuk rokok daun.
Kita juga mendapat kesempatan untuk mencicipi olahan minuman dari buah nira yang rasanya segar sekali. Tentunya dilanjutkan dengan makan makanan yang dimasak oleh warga. Nikmatnya jadi ganda.
In my point of view such activity will have good impact on the community, and should be sustainable. Not only for this generation, but also for the future generation.
