Electricity is the main cause of fire, why?

A week ago, 59 store houses (Ruko) in Kecamatan Simpang Keuramat, Aceh Utara burned allegedly due to electric conslekting or short circuit from one of the shop. Then the fire spread and then burned the shophouses occupied by 65 families. Now they are not just homeless, but work.
This is one of the many fires caused by the electric conservancy. Based on the experience in our 10 years coverage, the average fires that occurred Lhokseumawe, Aceh Utara and a number of other districts / cities in Aceh, due to short-circuit. Of course there is a problem in this case, whether in the use of electric current, or in the installation of electrical installations.

This condition is not only happening in Aceh. In DKI Jakarta the main cause of fire is also due to electricity and other provinces. Electric short circuit or short circuit is a connection with very small electrical resistance, resulting in a very large electrical current. This is an abnormal condition, so it must be handled immediately, because otherwise it can cause an explosion that causes a fire.

Then what is the cause of short circuit or electrical short circuit? One of the causes of the installation of the installation is not perfect or sometimes there is a blister / chipped cable, then can also be caused by the cable used capacity is not appropriate so unable to accommodate a large electric current. Another cause is that there are too many installations of the socket on one current, also because the switch is not working properly, and the Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB / current division is broken).

How to prevent zippering can be avoided. Re-examine all electrical installations to determine whether the condition is still viable or not. Then use the electrical installation services that have a certificate of SLO (Certificate Eligible Operation), then avoid the stack of electrical plugs in one place and use the cables according to designation and current-carrying capacity.

Of course to replace the cable or use the services of electrical installation will require additional costs. But the additional cost would not be as big as if the house / office and our shop burned. Sepekan yang lalu, 59 rumah toko (Ruko) di Kecamatan Simpang Keuramat, Aceh Utara terbakar yang diduga karena konslekting listrik atau arus pendek dari salah satu ruko. Lalu api menjalar dan kemudian membakar ruko yang dihuni 65 kepala keluarga. Kini mereka bukan hanya kehilangan tempat tinggal, tapi pekerjaan.
Ini adalah satu dari banyak kejadian kebakaran yang diakibatkan karena konslek listrik. Berdasarkan hasil pengalaman dalam peliputan kami selama 10 tahun, rata-rata kebakaran yang terjadi Lhokseumawe, Aceh Utara dan sejumlah kabupaten/kota lain di Aceh, karena hubungan arus pendek. Tentu ada persoalan dalam hal ini, apakah dalam penggunaan arus listrik, atau dalam pemasangan instalasi listrik.

Kondisi ini bukan hanya terjadi di Aceh. Di DKI Jakarta penyebab utama kebakaran juga karena konslek listrik dan sejumlah provinsi lain. Konsleting listrik atau arus pendek adalah suatu hubungan dengan tahanan listrik yang sangat kecil, mengakibatkan aliran listrik yang sangat besar. Ini keadaan tidak normal, jadi harus ditangani seketika itu juga, sebab jika tidak bisa menyebabkan ledakan sehingga menimbulkan kebakaran.

Lalu apa penyebab terjadi arus pendek atau konsleting listrik? Salah satunya penyebabnya pemasangan instalasi yang tidak sempurna atau kadang ada kabel lecet/terkelupas, kemudian bisa djuga disebabkan kabel yang digunakan kapasitasnya tak sesuai sehingga tak mampu menampung arus listrik yang besar. Penyebab lain karena terlalu banyak pemasangan stop kontak pada satu arus, juga karena saklar tidak berfungsi dengan baik, serta Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB/pembagian arus rusak.

Bagaimana untuk mencegah agar konsleting bisa terhindari. Memeriksa kembali seluruh instalasi listrik untuk memastikan apakah kondisi masih layak pakai atau tidak. Lalu menggunakan jasa instalasi listrik yang memmiliki sertifikat SLO (Sertifikat Layak Operasi), lalu menghindari tumpukan colokan listrik pada suatu tempat dan menggunakan kabel sesuai peruntukan dan kapasitas hantar arus.

Tentu untuk mengganti kabel atau menggunakan jasa pemasangan listrik akan membutuhkan biaya tambahan. Tapi biaya tambahan tersebut pasti tidak akan sebesar bila rumah/kantor dan ruko kita terbakar. Kita juga berharap pihak yang bertanggungjawab dalam soal ini juga mau menyosialisasi hal ini kepada masyarakat kita, agar terhindar dari kebakaran seperti yang sering terjadi sebelumnya.
