Why reservation?

India is a country which has laws that entitle certain sections of society to all kinds of benefits based upon their living conditions as it was during the 1940's. I am not exaggerating.

I know this is a controversial topic. I felt the need to write about this. The year is 2018. The population has increased manifold. The sections of society who get benefits have not tried to keep the population in check and why should they? Their children get free education, easy admissions to top colleges including the IIT's and NIT's and promotions if in Govt. jobs.

Merit has almost no value

If merit were to have any say in the matter, many people would not have been jobless and the BRAIN DRAIN would not have occurred. The country would have prospered long ago and would have been number one. Instead, corruption, incompetence, laziness, greed and other vices have ruined the country. Added to these woes are illegal immigrants who not only cause economic disruption but smuggle counterfeit notes and other stuff into the country. I appreciate our honorable prime minister for trying to tackle the illegal immigrant issue.

If only, caste, class, and religion based reservation is removed.

I dream of an India where the youth are engaged in fruitful activities instead of wasting their life away as political 'chumchas' or becoming a slave to drugs and the like.

I dream of an India which is not corrupt and where people are given their dues because they deserve it and not because they bribed some official.

I dream of an India where every household tries to farm their own vegetables and if possible, fruits.

I dream of an India where people do not fight in the name of religion and caste.

I dream of an India where young lovers are not killed because they belong to different religions or caste.

Let us do away with the DOWRY SYSTEM that causes the death of many a young bride or makes the family of the bride a slave to debts for the rest of their lifetime. In some cases, it is 'keeping up with the Joneses' and ending up as a debtor for life.

If India is to progress

• do away with reservation
• do away with crippling traditions like dowry
• do away with corruption
• discouraging brain drain
• stopping illegal immigration
• encouraging small-scale entrepreneurs
• encouraging agriculture
• more empowerment to village offices overseeing agriculture progress and such
• encouraging women - example: Kudumbasree project for women in Kerala

There are so many ways in which the life of an average Indian can be improved but it is mostly spent in mundane affairs such as watching TV soaps, participating in useless activities and the like.

Get up, shake off your laziness and act. Let your life be a message to others.
