Indian Guides and Princesses

in #indian7 years ago (edited)

I've posted a few activities that I do with my daughter in a really great program but, I've never gone into much detail about the program itself. So, thought I'd share some info. The Indian Guides and Princesses is the equivalent to the Boy/Girl Scouts. Depending on where you live, the YMCA would most like be the organization that oversees it. The main draw is it's structured very loose which is great for those that have full schedules. There's no weekly meetings and no commitments. You really get out of it, what you put into it. The biggest draw are the camp outs which there are 3 in a year. There is so many activities and fun to be had, it's amazing that we fit everything in within a weekend. Along with the camp outs, there's one off activities throughout the year. We have a huge kick-off party, induction ceremony (for new folks), Olympics, Holiday Party, Bowling, Valentine's Dance, Pinewood Derby and Roller Skating. We also do extra events outside of the staple events. Last year there was an overnight on an actual submarine and another overnight at the Museum of Science and Industry. That was cool walking around after hours. Here are the 7 Aims for the program which is the values we want to instill.

Here is my daughter's vest that shows all of the events we participated in together. I have one too. You'll notice "Ice Wolf" on hers. We get to make up our own program name. She loved that. My name is "Sitting Duck".

Overall it's a wonderful opportunity to bond with your child and create positive, lasting memories.
