Hello Steemit Friends,

It was 3 days back i made a post with title "All about Australia tour of India,2017(Cricket Match). Are you Excited? Let's have some insight prior to its start. " where I discussed about Australia tour to India for playing  5 ODI's and 3 T20's . So today in this post i am going to discuss about 1st ODI which played between them at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai yesterday.

So in this match Aussie young lad "Hilton Cartwright" made his ODI debut and he was given his cap by Australian legend Bret Lee. And since Axar Patel had some injury so he was replaced by all-rounder Ravinder Jadeja for rest of this series.

Now it was the time for toss which was won by Indian skipper Virat Kholi who decides to Bat first. MA Chidambaram Stadium also know as Chepauk have history of bouncy track. As per previous data batting first win percentage is around 60.Highest successful run chase at this venue was by the Aussies itself back in 1996 World Cup against the Kiwis ,where the former chased a total of 284.

Let's have a look at playing 11 for both the teams

Playing XI India

Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli (c), Manish Pandey, MS Dhoni (wk), Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah

Playing XI Australia

David Warner, Hilton Cartwright, Steven Smith (c), Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade (wk), James Faulkner, Pat Cummins, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Adam Zampa

So India decided to go with 2 wrist spinners with the likes of Chahal and Kuldeep. And it was Rahane who got the opportunity to open the innings leaving behind KL Rahul .James Faulker makes a come back to represent his nation after a long span of time.

Then the innings started for India:

As I mention above it was Rahane accompanied by Rohit opened the innings for India. It was a another bad day for men in blue and the starting order collapsed with some work from Counter-Nile .So it a was sloppy start by the Indians where Counter-Nile troubled by picking up 3 wickets back to back in two consecutive overs. He picked up Rahane (who edged it to keeper),then Virat(who hit it straight to Maxwell at gully, but a fine one handed catch though) and Manish Pandey (who edged it to keeper) in quick succession of 11-1 ,11-2,11-3. Virat and Manish both went for a duck and the team were in deep trouble. However Rohit and Kedar showed some character but were dismissed by Stonis by this slower deliver. It was the 87-5 when MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandaya were on the crease. How much did you expect from here 180?220? or max 250 isn't it? Both MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandaya started building the innings brick by brick, run by run taking singles, doubles and some odd boundaries from Hardik. Both these batsman were of different character with former know for his calm nature and the later known for his fiery and aggresive nature. Both started it slow in the next 10 overs and then it was Hardik who decided to take on Adam Zamba hitting him for 4,6,6,6 in a row. But it was Zamba who had the last laugh picking Hardik wicket, where he miscues his slog just after hitting a six. What a fine innings from this young man, what a character he is.Just the one India needed a batsman who can do some fast bowling too. Hardik made a score of 83 off 66 balls hitting 5 each 6's and 4's .Then it was MS who hit a boundary after playing 66 balls?Seriously Is he the same Dhoni who takes the ball out of the park? Well it was sensible and responsible innings from him well supported by Bhubanswar Kumar during the last overs. It was in 49th over when Dhoni decided to accelerate his innings hitting 2 6's. Did you see his 6 which he hit over the extra cover? It was a treat to watch though. Finally the score which once looked bleak were achievable and thanks to some quick firing from Hardik. So India set a target of 282 for the Aussies.

Now it was the time for Australian Innings:-

During the innings break, there was some drizzle which eventually became heavier and that's the reason of the halt.It was a long break so the team started losing overs. And the final decision was that Aussies will chase a target of 164 in 21 overs as per D/L method.

Even Aussie were no different as they had sloppy start too, with Indian pace attack all over the Aussie in the power play .Then it was Bumrah who blowed Hilton Cartwright with his slower delivery, and India gets a break through. I think it was the day meant for Hardik Pandya who picked up next 2 wickets of Smith and Head respectively. Well it was a fine catch from Bumrah sending Smith back to the dressing room. It was then followed by Kuldeep picking up Warner, who edged it to Dhoni. And the score was 35-4 .Now came the beast Maxwell, and as expected he tried to take on Indian bowler from his very first ball he faced. he then decides to take on Kuldeep and given him the same taste which Hardik gave it to Zamba, hitting 4,6,6,6 continuously. It was then Chahal who baited Maxwell with a wide delivery after getting hit for a six,and Maxwell fell for it hitting it straight to Manish at long on. Well them nothing much special happened apart from a hit from Faulkner. And the team collapsed just making 137 runs by losing 9 wickets. And India wins and takes the lead 1-0.

Let's take a look at  award presentation :-

So,as deserved it was Hardik Pandya who was declared "Man of the match" for his powerful innings of 83 off 66 balls and picking by 2 vital wickets

Words from Hardik:-

It was a good day for me. Couple of catches would have helped. It feels pretty good. I don't think anything has changed. I'm the same Hardik, perhaps a bit calmer than last year. I just wanted to play my game. I knew what he (Zampa) was going to bowl. We were planning and eventually I targeted one over. I liked it and eventually it helped. As a cricketer, it is important to have the right form. I am glad I am doing well in the batting department and bowling department. I have a wonderful bunch of people around me. I'd like to thank my coach

Words from Indian Captain Virat :-

Quite different from the first innings to the second. We spoke at the toss to post a good score. We didn't have the ideal start. This is a pleasing win because we were in a tough situation. MS and Kedar played well early, Hardik's innings was fantastic. And MS finished off the way he does. It's a good sign for us that our lower order batting is firing. Today was an example, Sri Lanka was an example, how good they can be. The bowlers were outstanding as well. It's just a matter of giving players the confidence. He (Hardik) believes in himself. That is the key in international cricket. Hardik's innings was the game-changer. He is smart with the ball as well. Great performance from them (spinners) today. 5-65 (sic) in nine overs is outstanding. Chahal has always been brave ever since I have seen him. Hats off to them. Bhuvi and Bumrah were clinical - our bank bowlers. I would like to give a lot of credit to those young bowlers. The game was shortened. These are the best four Indian bowlers in the IPL. They are very consistent and their economy is low. We couldn't have had a better combination. We were quite relaxed at the break.

Words from Australian Captain Smith:-

It was interesting. We bowled very well with the new ball, but we let the Indians off. MS and Hardik played really well - probably the match-winning partnership. We couldn't capitalize on the start. The new ball was stopping a bit and some were skidding on. It was quite difficult to face. We lost too many wickets in the middle. We can't control the weather. You can only play to whatever happens in the middle. No complaints. Tonight we weren't good enough and we were outplayed by India. I thought they (our fast bowlers) bowled very well, especially with the new ball. Hopefully they can back up in couple of days time. It worked with the new ball today. It was swinging early. We got ourselves in a good position. We probably went away from our game plans a little bit too early and we weren't able to capitalize on what was a good start.

Have a look at some tweets:-

Preview of 2nd ODI

So the 2nd ODI will be played on 21st September at Eden Gardens,Kolkata .It will start at same timing as of today ie 13:30 IST or 8:00 GMT .

India might stick with the same playing 11 or might give KL a chance instead of Manish or Rahane, but chances are bleak.

Aussie might think of playing an extra Bowler as we saw most of them were all-rounder . So Kane Richardson instead of Stonnis/Faulkner and Finch instead of Hilton?

Glen Maxwell needed to think his way through his shots. Well done India despite the revised total got the job done in the field when required. Looking forward to the second match and to see what the Aussies can do to bounce back. They have not won a ODI since January 2017 that's a long time between drinks. Great article mate

Thanks Brother,Yes Maxi was supposed to take the innings till the last ball, but can't help as that is how he plays. Not sure if Aussies won any match in home condition but yes they haven't any for about last 10 match away home despite having a balanced team. I wonder why is Starc not selected, is he injured?
