India designed vaccine passes WHO test
- For the first time a vaccine conceived and developed from scratch in India have been prequalified by World Health Organisation.
- The rotavac vaccine developed by Bharat Biotech Limited last year was included in India's national immunization programme.
- Rotavac vaccine protects against childhood diarrhoea caused by rotavirus it was built on a strain of virus isolated at AIIMS 30 years back.
- There were other vaccines as well which were pre qualified by WHO ,So why it is of great importance, because it's first approved vaccine developed by India without any external aid.
- It is also a sad fact that rota virus dairrhoea is responsible for 0.2 M infant hospitalisation and death every year. Most cases belongs to low to medium salary countries.

Most infantile diseases are as a result of lack of proper care and services. Think of poliomyelitis and hepatitis.

Yes, I read something about it... Rotavac vaccines prevent 15 to 34% of severe diarrhea in the developing world and 37 to 96% of severe diarrhea in the developed world. India is one of the stay I which to visit, they are consistent and doing great.. Thanks for the update
