Raisen fort

Built in 1200 AD, this fort is a major attraction of Raisen, Madhya Pradesh. After the construction of this fort on the hill top, Raisen got its identity. Made of sandstone, this fort is a wonderful proof of ancient architecture and quality which has stood elegantly even after so many centuries.

The walls made of huge stones open out of nine doors and there are thirteen burjs on them. The amazing thing is that there is a good mechanism of water management and conservation with 40 wells in the fort. There are many ancient caves and murals in the vicinity of the fort, which tell about the ancient history and culture of our country.

1200 ईस्वी में निर्मित यह किला रायसेन, मध्यप्रदेश का एक प्रमुख आकर्षण है। पहाड़ी की चोटी पर इस किले के निर्माण के बाद रायसेन को इसकी पहचान प्राप्त हुई। बलुआ पत्थर से बना हुआ यह किला प्राचीन वास्तुकला एवं गुणवत्ता का एक अद्भुत प्रमाण है जो इतनी शताब्दियाँ बीत जाने पर भी शान से खड़ा हुआ है।

विशाल पत्थरों से बनी हुई दीवारें नौ दरवाजों से बाहर खुलती हैं और इनके ऊपर तेरह बुर्ज़ हैं। आश्चर्यजनक बात यह यह है कि किले में 40 कुओं के साथ जल प्रबंधन एवं संरक्षण का एक उत्तम तंत्र है। किले के आसपास के क्षेत्र में भी कई प्राचीन गुफाएं एवं भित्ति चित्र हैं जो हमारे देश के प्राचीन इतिहास एवं संस्कृति के बारे में बताते हैं।
