केसे बना मूषक गणेश वाहन

गणेशजी के चूहे को अपना वाहन बनाने की विभिन्न
कथाएं मिलती हैं। गणेश पुराण के अनुसार एक दिन
अलकापुरी में देवराज इंद्र की सभा में क्रॉच नामक
गंधर्व गा रहा था, कि उसे खांसी आ गई। उसने
उठकर खिड़की से बाहर , जो दुर्भाग्य से खिड़की
के नीचे से जा रहे वामदेव ऋषि के ऊपर गिरा।
उन्होंने गुस्से में क्रौंच को चूहा बन जाने का शाप दे
दिया। क्रौंच चूहा बनकर पाराशर मुनि के आश्रम में
रहने लगा और उसके भयंकर उत्पात से त्रस्त ऋषि
मुनियों ने गणेशजी से चूहे से मुक्ति दिलाने की विनती
की। तब उन्होंने पाश फेंककर उसे पकड़ा और अपना
वाहन बना लिया। एक मत यह भी है कि चूंकि गणेश
सबसे अंत में जन्मे थे इसलिए सभी श्रेष्ठ अच्छी औ
वस्तुएंगुणपशु-पक्षी आदि पूर्ववर्ती देवीदेवताओं
ने ले लिए। जैसे- लक्ष्मी ने धन का स्वामित्व पाकर f
पुष्प के रूप में कमल और वाहन के रूप में उल्लू
की चुना।
इन्द्र स्वर्ग के स्वामी बने और उन्होंने समुद्र मंथन व
से प्राप्त चौदह रत्नों में एक ऐरावत नामक हाथी को
अपना वाहन बना लिया। सरस्वती विद्या की देवी
बनकर वाहन हंस की अधिकारी बनी। विष्णु को
सृष्टि के पालन-पोषण का दायित्व सौंपा गया, इसलिए
उन्हें तेज उड़ने वाला गरूड़ वाहन के रूप में मिला।
पर जब विनायक यानी गणेश को देवताओं की श्रेणी
में शामिल किया गयातो उनके वाहन और दायित्व
की समस्या खड़ी हुई
चूंकि उस काल में जीवनयापन का एकमात्र आधार है

पहुंचाने वाले चूहे को उनका वाहन बना दिया गया। ये
संस्कृत में मूषक का अर्थ चोर होता है। गणेश मूषक
जैसे हानिकारक तत्वों पर अपना नियंत्रण रखते हैं।
