ABOUT INDIA PART-1 #TAJ MAHAL# WINNER OF THE NEW 7 WONDERS OF THE WORLD
The Taj Mahal meaning "crown of the palace" , commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the remains of his beloved wife Mumtaj Mahal.
The Taj Mahal situated on the south bank of the Yamuna river in the India, city of Agra.
The construction project lead by the architect Ustad Ahmad Lahauri,which was combined with Indian, Persian and Islamic influences.
The Taj Mahal was designated as aUNESCO World Heritage site in 1983, and it is counted in new 7 wonders of the world.
Design and construction
The mausoleum was constructed of white marble.Its central dome reaches 73m and is surrounded by 4 smsller domes; 4 slender towers stood at the corners.The Quran was inscribredin calligraphy on the arched entrance to the mausoleum.
