Mr. Muthu Palani, a fighter, goat breeder, says, “my goat reacts more brilliantly and responds to all my command than a dog, I feed them with rice, dal, wheat, sesbania grandiflora, fresh vegetables and eggs. Dates are their main source of energy. It is what triggers their valor before a fight. We feed aloevera every week to clear their stomach from infections. The kind of medical care given here has been carried over through generations. We take boundless care of both physical health and the external personality of the goat. Very rarely do the fighter goats have any health problems because we use an ancient medical system.

We bath, comb and brush the goats every day to maintain its personality. We paint and sharpen the horns to give them a great look.

The kind of workouts they undergo are no different from what real heavy weight champions are made to do. “ Walking, Running, swimming and bumping their heads repeatedly against hard and soft surfaces are some of the task they performed. They are so so strong that one bump can break a thigh bone of an adult,” He adds.

Some aspirant fighter even own up to 50 fighter goats and the team works throughout the year for the bout. Palani says,

In tournaments. “Prize money may be upto 50000 Rs in Indian rupees for the winners.

Winning fighter Goats are offered with their favorite food and decorated with colorful garlands around their necks.

The skull shown in the below picture is a mark and remembrance of super fighter named "Vatta Kombu (Round Horns)" the famous fighter Goat in their local.

If a goat is defeated continuously, its retirement is fixed by the goat owners. Interestingly, goat owners never use the meat of their retired goats. For them, that goat is like one of their own.
