Good morning steemians. How is the day going?

Lemme quickly do this.

I have been receiving tons of messages from friends wishing me happy independence. Reading the messages i dont know if i should be glad that my country is celebrating its 57th birthday today. That means is it now exactly 57 years Nigerian gained independence. It should be a joyful things but at the same time i was not happy, reason is the situation of the country is nothing to write home about. Every time i wake up and i realize i am still a Nigerian, i always feel some forms of sadness within me.

I will relate Nigeria to a 57 year old man that was given a seed to plant and yet still after 56 years, he has not harvested anything. We have a lot of resources at our disposal : tin, iron ore, cocoa, oil, and many others that i am ashamed of mentioning. Imagine a country blessed with all these mineral resources and cannot still cater for its citizens, cannot protect its citizens. I dont know if i am wrong for thinking i deserve something from the country.

Huge amount of money my parents spent to make sure i acquire education. The dream is now fulfilled but the question is for what? What are now the advantages that i went to school? What are the advantages of my parents stepping out from their comfort zone to send me to school? How now do i repay them because i see what did as an investment. They are now in their old age and it is my turn to take care of them but how can i take care of them when my so called beloved country is not performing her duties. My country where leaders fill their pockets till it starts pouring on the floor.

I feel pain deep inside me. I feel i have wasted my time going to school. thinking of it again, even if i did not go to school it would still be the same situation. It will even be worse. They told us when we were young that we are the leaders of tomorrow. I wonder the tomorrow they were referring to because it is the same set of people that told us that we are the leaders of tomorrow that are still the leaders even at 74 years of age. What plan can a grandfather ever have for a country. Why cant he step down for someone younger? Why would he step down when there is still much to steal.

We are called the giant of Africa, at first i used to think we were called that because of our ability but now i know that it is because of our size.

At 57

  • Corruption

  • Terrorism

  • Insecurity

  • Unemployment

  • Lack of Infrastructures

  • Inequalities

  • Insecurities

  • High Crime Rate

  • Poor Educational System

  • Tribalism

This is an endless list that always bring me to tears.

There is nothing to happy about today for me. I will just go to church and come back home to steemit. At least steemit has become more than a helper than my country Nigeria.

I disagree with you sir. There's always something to celebrate. Nigeria is still one. You haven't been bombed. No major war. People in Afghanistan andoother warzones would want the life you have. Be thankful!

Well I think @ewuoso has a point. Let's stop pretending. Our mumu don do. We are tiredd of all the lies. @ajremy don't compare us to other Islam countries. We were colonized by Britain and we should practice true federalism. You can't continue to force two people who are not compatible to marry. Even you do, for how long. I understand your plight @ajremy but let's open our eyes. Is @ned and @dan not humans like us? If there country was in mess, will they have the opportunity to change the world? Let's not settle for less. Thanks

baba you have spoken well. Our mumu don do

I am thankful to God that i am alive. I am not thankful to Nigeria for that. Thanks for stopping by

You should celebrate. It will take some time to settle. To look forward for prosperity. With the time the organs of system will become powerful to eliminate unwanting things that are hurdles agains prosperity.

In how many years to come

Depends upon the choice of nigerian public.

Just keep praying for Nigeria, we'd evolve

I dont have a choice, it is still my country. Thanks for stopping by

Corruption is the main leading factor affecting this country ,we are blessed with different things ,but will they allow us to make use if it?No ! Why ? Because if their selfishness.

Education is crawling , while they sponsored their children abroad to study with our money.

They will tax us , while the alert sound gbamgbam in their account.

May God just save us

i tell u bro. i tire

Thats why there is nothing to celebrate...
Only counting years

hahahahah

Majek Fashek sang it in a song that for 27 years, or so Nigeria got her independence yet, Nigeria is still dependence. If am correct or not exaggerating, that song has lasted for nothing more than 20years, yet Nigeria is not any better. Those wishing you happy independence still have the hope that things will be better anyway. so accept their complimentary message and stay happy

what can i do
