Mental anchoring has other uses, such as for memory recall. This technique is known as a Memory Palace. The Romans used to practice it as a sport and compete with each other. One creates a visual image of building in their mind. Each of the rooms usually has a specific memory use. We need to be able to visualise the details and feel like that we are walking in the space. We choose a room where we want to store the information or memory. An object is then visualised in that room that we associate with the information we wish to store. To recall the information at a later date, we visualise the process of entering the building, going to the room and finding the object. This all works because sight is our primary sense.
