Mother's Day (An ode to Mexican mothers)

When a child is lost, the mother’s grief grows in the shape of a red flower in the vast wastelands of the afterlife.

Nantsin collects each and every single of these flowers, then proceeds to tirelessly walk the endless desert in search of the lost children.

When found, often scared and confused, Nantsin gives each child their Mother Flower. She then nurtures and cares for them as if they were her own until the children can finally be reunited with their mothers.

The life you’ve given lives on and will return to you, mother.

Today is Mother’s Day in México, so I decided to do a little ode to all those mothers who have lost children, especially to the wave of violence that plagues my country. I hope you like the little story I wrote. Nantsin means “mamacita” in Náhuatl.
