The phenomenon of neo-Nazism among the illiberal left really shouldn't be as surprising as it is horrifying.

Leftists tend to be secular while trying to be more righteous than everybody else. They take pride in being so far removed from the opposition that they proclaim that they can't understand the opposition.

So, they claim to not understand Jihadism and Salafism.

They have to claim that all of the hatred toward Jews comes from reasonable place; so, they make to the reasons rather than accepting the fact that hatred toward Jews is in the Islamic texts.

Of course, for love of God, I'm not saying that all Muslims hate Jews. I know for a fact that that isn't true. None of my Muslim friends hate Jews.

I'm saying that literal interpretations of Islamic texts draw a direct line to hatred toward Jews just like the pogroms that arose from Catholicism.
