Good morning all and welcome back for today's live stream. If the last 2 days are anything to go by, it looks like we are in for an explosive week.

Yesterday's hearing saw Lord Carney of Clifton take to the stand and try to justify his actions during the investigation into Peter Ball. Again, I found myself glued to my chair as this deeply religious man made one ridiculous excuse after another. I have to give respect to the Chair for asking some very direct questions of Lord Carney and after a few hours you could see the cracks begin to show. Raising his voice, Lord Carney spat out a frustrated protest and appeared to be ratting out his co-conspirators(Monday's hearing exposed how the police were reassuring the church of a "quick and quiet investigation")

"It isn't all one way you know! The police knew just as much about what was going on, if not more"

So this was how the hearing continued, with the chair asking obvious questions like "why were you funding and supporting him, even after he had been cautioned for child-abuse?". To which this man of god would reply with a complete fabrication of the truth or just give the old "I can't remember" line... I wouldn't be so sceptical as this was an event that happened over 20-years ago, but it always amazes me how selective their memories are. They seem to be able to recall any positive recollections, with crystal clarity, as it it happened yesterday, so to speak. But then you ask them a question like...

..."So when you had received the 4TH letter, accusing Rev Peter Ball of abusing children, why didn't you hand them over to the police?"

"Er...Oh, well...erm...I..I just can't remember, it was all so long ago"

I came away from yesterday's hearing wondering what Lord Carney would do that night... After being confronted with a reflection of your own past and one that was so twisted and absolutely void of compassion, except for someone you have had to admit is a demon, how then do you sleep at night and live with what you have done? Faced with with those kind of facts, I assume most would go home in a state of personal despair and probably do the honourable thing. But we aren't talking about "everyday people" here, we are dealing with people who live in a very warped and elitist world and these folk don't loose a wink of sleep.

My conclusion to this question was that Lord Carney still thinks Peter Ball is innocent and if he could write another letter of support, to secure his release from prison, he most certainly would do.

No remorse. No compassion. No responsibility. No conscience. No consequence. No Justice.
