IFC Finals - First Round tie breaker ---> Eagle Spirit's Official Tie Breaker Entry
Eagle Spirit's Official Tie Breaker Entry
Starting this @ifc tie breaker round I began by letting go over the "speed" issue I overcame during a major move of six hours south from my current living location. After a very long day of moving, I ran around getting the photos in order to enter them all in within record time.
Fortunately, the judges accepted all photos and I was forwarded on to this tie breaker round. The rules are as follows:
You must find pictures of these items somewhere in the physical world. (Also please don't risk your own safety to get the lightning image or any other image, if you wanna try to get real lightning I suggest being VERY FAR away.)
I have to say that "very far away" part had me laughing for a few days!!!
In order to further reduce the chance of a tie, in this round.. Pictures of the real thing will be worth double, and representations of the real thing IE pictures on DVD covers or books or whatever will be worth the amount listed.
This rule seemed reasonable enough, try to get the real thing, Right??!!
For example.. If you found a picture of a swimming pool on a DVD cover or in a book it would be 1 point, but if you find a real swimming pool in person in the physical world it will be 2 points.
Sounds good to me, make a double or triple effort to get that darn real shot of the item requested.
And you can find virtually any representation of the item as long as it's not like a pic off your TV/phone or computer/the internet or an encyclopedia something like that.
Okay, will do @apolymask! I can do it (those were my thoughts while reading.)
We do want to encourage people to be creative with their images, though a few have been a lil questionable, so.. Please try to be more clear when possible and try to not leave it up to judges interpretation if you can help it and if you really want to win.
No kidding, I saw some weird stuff while perusing some folks images. LOL!
You can still get 2 for 1 or more as well, what I mean is.. You could get multiple items on the list in one picture, for example a Graffiti of flowers would be two items checked off the list. No extra points for that, but it will be one less picture for you to take and upload.
Awesome, but if you know me I am going to make one of each. That's just how I do.
And for anyone curious. A power spot is a special place where you feel extra "powerful" so to speak and in order to HOPEFULLY prevent another tie ... The judges will vote on the power spot they like most as well, and 5 points will be awarded to the player who gets the better power spot!
I'm not sure how many power spots we get, but hey I'm all up for finding as many power spots as possible. I'm all in folks ... and here are my entries:
Oh and let me not forget that today is July 4, 2018, so Happy Fourth of July to all Americans and God Bless our Vets!!
Flowers (1 point)
Okay, so I forgot that I had taken a photo of two roses in this photo, which would account for flowers plural. These roses I found are on the Southern Ute Reservation and their symbol is the rose. The rose is on everything they wear, whether it is moccasins, vest, hat, bling, you name it the rose is everywhere. It is said they incorporated it after the Spanish Conquistadors came to the area.
So, because I got a little freaked out that I only captured one rose I had to ensure that I had all more than one flower and took this photo while I was in Denver. This is in front of the Denver Art Museum and I caught the angle of the pyramid shaped building above the flowers. I like angles.
Swimming pool (1 point)
Fortunately, my new area that I moved to has this awesome swimming pool where I go on the daily. I'll start a new swimming regiment starting next week.
Cave (1 point)
The photo above is not of the actual cave but me walking to the cave, and I did get a bit lost because there are a few caves in the area and I had never been to this one. The Garden of the Gods is very close by along with cliff dwellings.
Apparently, this area was a homeless encampment and well, the internet doesn't always tell us everything about an area before we attempt to visit. The actual Rainbow Falls was closed, but there were a few other caves that I was able to find with the help of some locals.
As you can see by the graffiti this is a local hangout for the youth, and unfortunately there was a lot of pollution in the way of garbage, excrement, clothes, and books. I was very disheartened to have to walk through this in order to find a cave.
As I found this particular cave, the trail had been blocked off with yellow tape and a huge sign warning of damaging city property. It looked as if there had been a recent raid as an attempt to extricate the homeless camp and prepare for restoration of the area.
The entry of the cave seemed a bit harmless, I tend to be claustrophobic and you can forget about closed in dark places.
Photo taken by @eaglespirit
Inside the cave but not too far in, I was able to capture this shot with my flash and I quickly left. Tons of more graffiti inside the cave, but I didn't spend too much time inside.
Interestingly, on my way out of this area I came upon another huge cave called the Cave of the Winds that is privately owned. The entrance fee was $21 USD to get inside, and since I only wanted to take a photo (of cave #2) I asked if I could just take a photo and they were kind enough to let me. I even got someone to join Steemit during this part of the challenge.
This was a photo of the front of the second entrance to the cave and according the Lead Guide this was all closed up and "found" in 1881. I have my doubts, but who am I?
The photo above is of the original "sink holes" that first brought this cave to the attention of the cave.
Twin pillars (2 points)
The two rock pillars I chose are from my ancestral lands called Chimney Rock, I even wrote an extensive blog about it entitled Chimney Rock National Monument approximately six months ago. If you would like to know more about this location that encompasses spiritual journeys, astronomical events, and celebration please read my first post about this very special place.
There are many aspects to this site that make it very special and one of them is the fact that:
From 2004 through 2007, as seen from the recently removed Forest Service Fire Lookout Tower, the MLS moon rose periodically between the two stone pillars that give the site its name. This spectacular sight, which occurs every 18.6 years, is believed to have influenced construction of the Chacoan-style Great House atop Chimney Rock’s high mesa. Whether coincidence or planned, the Great House Pueblo is a natural observatory for the MLS.
Call it coincidence, but personally I do not believe in coincidence. I attend different ceremonies throughout the year at this location, one being a spring celebration and now that I live closer then I will attend the special lunar events that take place here. Chimney Rock is a sacred location and for that I am grateful that these two pillars are still in existence.
From the moment I first entered the state of Colorado, and I saw Chimney Rock it literally “called” to me. Amazingly, as I drove past it, a rainbow showed straight through the pillars and onto the kiva (not shown). Take a look at my full blog on the details of this location to get an idea of the layout.
Due to the powerful calling, the Native American connection I feel at this location, and modern day ceremonies I attend this is my POWER spot. I feel regenerated when I hike in this area and a kinship to the area. See a photo of me next to the pillars in my first blog, you may get a sense of how special this location truly is to me.
Spider (2 points)
Honestly, I could not believe I was able to capture this spider while scouring the corners of my temporary home. As you can see it was night time and I had to make sure I was fast enough to get the shot. Let alone the lighting had to be just right. I got it!
Shield (3 points)
Fortunately, I work with a few people that carry a shield for work and they were kind enough to lend it to me for this contest. The above is considered a shield and I had to do some research because some are considered a badge and not a shield.
The above photo is considered a badge and not a shield. Go figure! I would've thought a police officer would wear a shield not a badge.
Dream catcher (3 points)
The story behind a dreamcatcher is quite a bit detailed, but the Reader's Digest version is that one should never buy oneself a dreamcatcher. It should be a gift. The dreamcatcher is a protection and many people place them next to their bed to recycle a dream through a dreamcatcher so bad dreams to not filter into the psyche. The dreamcatcher I'm presenting was made for me by shop owner that i gifted a very special healing crystal to and she gifted me this hand made dreamcatcher.
Graffiti (3 points)
Even though I was surrounded by graffiti and already posted quite a bit in the caves, I had to share this one with you all. I caught this while looking for the Mayan calendar and was blown away by this graffiti art. The owner confirmed this was all done by spray paint and as a way to assist youth in overcoming their graffiti addiction. They gave permission for this work to be done to help those in the community.
Mayan calendar (4 points)
This was not easy to come by in the very least as I went hunting for this in a good sized city. I even found a historical movie theater called the Mayan, which was a great place to visit but no Mayan calendar. Who woulda thunk it?
Anyhoo, a hostess at the movie theater gave me a great lead and that was a local burrito place. That is where I found not one but two Mayan calendars. I had to ask a few people for their permission to take a photo above their heads while I took the photo. Blessed be!
Lightning (5 points)
So, I began my lightening journey by praying for lightening but comon' would the skies above really grant me an "act of God?" I mean who are we kidding, I am Eagle Spirit but there is only so much us lowly humans may be granted, right? The night I drove from southern Colorado to the north believe it or not I saw lightning but I was driving more than six hours, fires were raging so I had to take a detour and there was just no way I was able to capture lightning. Yet, I had hope!
I saw the above lightening bolt on the chest of a wood carved Indian but was not quite satisfied. I knew I could do better.
After a few phone calls, one to a photography shop that gave me a few photography classes, and they suggested I take a trip to the Denver Art Museum. Well, long story short the Supervising Security Guard, Volunteer, Reception Desk, or the Cafe workers could not help me. I scoured art books for an hour and finally came up with a book.
Even a kind worker held the book with Frida Kaloh's original works open for me and as you can see, there is a tiny red lightning bolt.
You would think this would satisfy me but it didn't, the little red lightning nor the bolt on the sculpture didn't quite settle well with me. I started asking the heavens for some lightning. I'm not kidding but this is really kind of funny. If not a bit miraculous. I even started singing a Native American chant and this is what happened.
Some folks would say never doubt the power of prayer, and I would happen to agree. Where I currently am relocating there has been a drought and dry as can be. I drove six hours north to only drive through a thunderstorm.
The day after, on the Fourth of July I was storm chasing in Denver and from a safe distance captured this video right over Denver’s Union Station:
How lucky can a girl get, or was it luck at all? Peace.
If you are interested in a great contest for next season check out @ifc and @apolymask. There is a great Marketplace initiative taking place similar to eBay so check it out on Discord here.
Greetings,
Thank you for stopping by to read my blog. I’m a First Nation member of the Hopi & Apache Native American tribes, Medicine woman in-training, first time blogger since November 2017, (right here on Steemit), paralegal, researcher, and writer based in the Mountains of Colorado, USA. I work closely with fellow planktons and minnows in a few groups by helping them adjust to Steemit and curate quality content. I’m especially interested in finding others who love natural medicine originating from ancient practices, gold and silver, energy work, and the spirit world. Additionally, I'm the creator of #MedicineCardMonday, so if you are interested in receiving a Native American blessing stop by my blog every Monday, or just say hello!
See you soon, @eaglespirit

Photo scavenger hunts are fun! Where did you find this one? I'd love to participate in the next one.
Also, I enjoyed reading your descriptions of the photo finding and taking process. That's fun!
yes they are! i went through a lot, this is the second in the finals. i found this contest towards the end of season 1 and made the sweet 16 finals. fingers crossed i make to the final 8 and so on. :)
thank you so much for enjoying the hunt! you might like the group since you sound pretty cool. 😛😂
I'm sure you'll make it. You put so much effort into all those pics!
Years ago I participated in a photo scavenger hunt and was able to find half of the items on the list in one location. It helped to have a very eclectic friend with her own castle. 😁
@mattifer thank you so much, it looks as if my opponent conceded, so i got this win. her own castle? wow
Oooh, you get to go to the next round. Yay! That's exciting!
And yep, she's got a castle. My previous post about the Vortex is on the castle grounds. I didn't get to the castle proper in that one because I forgot to get good pics last time I was there.
@mattifer yes, why yes i do! thanks to my boo boo jebreheny and he didnt fight too hard. :(
nice re: castle and vortexes. awesomesauce!! :)
Hey mattifer, not meaning to necessarily answer for eaglespirit but I'm one of the main people involved in the contest and.. Right now we are in the finals, so we won't have another one of these rounds for a while unfortunately, probably a bit over a month at least as I want a month break when this is over, but might be longer or shorter.. If you are interested in playing next season, we'd be happy to have you!
Thanks for the info! I'm pretty new to steemit and would love to participate in some of these contests. I followed your main contest page, so hopefully I'll be in the know when the next one starts.
You're welcome! And oh? The contests are definitely a good way to get started and stay active on steemit in my opinion! I've heard a lot of good things about them. And word! Yeah, I think hopefully by following the page you'll be aware, though you're always welcome to join our discord and become more a part of our community, we often do little side quests and many of the players create their own quests and things like that. :) Lemme know if you're interested and I'll grab you a link.
We also have a marketplace as well which is a place people can buy and sell. Anyways good luck on here and I hope you get to participate in our future challenges! :)
Thanks! I'm certainly interested. Steemit just keeps getting more and more interesting. Yesterday I learned about the discord radio; today I learn there is a marketplace too. Very cool!
You're welcome! And cool! Lemme get our discord link for you and you can join if you'd like, meet some of the others and then be up to date on when the challenges happen. It's a really great friendly supportive community who like to help each other! :)
Also.. There's a few others on steemit doing similar in regards to a place where people can buy and sell, There's Steembay which is like Ebay, Steemgigs which is like upwork, and at least a couple others.. So yeha.. There's definitely a lot of creative building and work going on on steemit in a lot of different ways! The deeper you get you'll find this place is almost like a black hole of creativity, and black hole might be the wrong term but I mainly only say that cause most of the world doesn't know about it yet. So it's kind of hidden still.
here's the discord link to our channel if you'd like to stop by and check it out. :)
https://discord.gg/bKVnKQF
Cool beans, thanks for the link. I'm going to have to hold off on some of those other fancy steem toys though. I'm lost just trying to figure out the basics. Once I can find my way around here in the dark I'll explore further. 😀
Understood! It takes a while to learn. In some ways it's easy, you can just post like on any other social media, but to get real deep into it it takes a while. I'm still unaware of a lot and I've been here a while.
So yeah, the discord link is a good place to ask any questions you have, there's usually someone around who can help you in regards to steemit related issues and such. :) Cheers! And good luck with your efforts on here!
hey apoly, i put all the info in my blog and a link to the group.
This was quite an adventure! I love the extra length you went with some of the photos, and you should get a bonus point for signing someone up to Steemit :D I think it will be hard to top this entry, so good luck and let's see who will get through the next round :)
@plushzilla hey you noticed that and thank you!! woot!! :)
well i did beat out jbreheny my dear friend and now we shall see since many people
got to get their time extended. of course many of them fell behind so majority vote got them in
with possibly extra points ... hmmmmm
I have managed to get some incredible photos being in Yellowstone National Park and still have 3 or 4 items to obtain and I’m certain I can get everything although I’ll need to use some creativity. With that being said as much as it pains me to do so I have to graciously concede to @eaglespirit. The energy you have put into this both physically and spiritually deserve to be rewarded. You have nailed it Eagle Spirit. Go get em girl!
@apolymask, I am officially conceding this round to @eaglespirit.
I am thankful for you conceding and I hope we still get to see those photos. Big hugs to you and I'm so grateful for folks like you in the ifc. thank you so much!!
I took doubles of most of my shots. 1 with the IFC note and 1 without. I'm going to do some posting on the park itself when we get our satellite internet installed in the next week or 2.
I'll be watching so do me proud.
@jbreheny yay, i can't wait to her it and satellite internet is crazy expensive, i know because i live in the mountains and not having a signal sucks big time, especially for a blogger. my next apt i've opted to living closer to town bc not having a signal or it going on and off just drives me nuts. LOL
yay you!! we will be seeing you more now, thank you again for your concession, it would have been
interesting to you take a lightning shot!
aww "do me proud" ... I will!! big hugs
@jbreheny awww i'd love to see your photos and i thank you so very much!! you brought tears to my eyes. :(
thank you thank you thank you!!!
Excellent job eagle spirit! I just officially went through your post and you got them all, plus as you are already aware your opponent told me he was unable to find them all so he conceded. You win this round and are moving on to the next round!
PS wonderful job again in regards to getting them all, only you and youhavewings were able to get them all. Though I think 3 people ended up managing to get lightning. I'm amazed. I didn't think anyone would. Very cool. Even though we probably won't ever do lightning again, I'll always remember this and what this contest and the people involved are capable of. :) Great job and good luck in the rest of the contest! :D
PS I liked that picture of you up on Chimney Rock. That spot looks awesome! I see why you picked it as your power spot.
I also liked the bridge area with the graffiti and the artwork that was done on the side of that building! Cool!
@apolymask thank you so much apoly! that was interesting. i have noticed people looking at my posts to see what i do, so i think i will wait until the last day now to post! just sayin. i think when we raise the bar some get competitive and have to do more. i'm still interested in the maya/aztec calendar answer. was it the aztec that you were thinking of, and the maya is very complex, not sure that would have been able to be shot. it is a dead calendar so to speak and works as a mechanism. some argue the aztec is part of the maya calendar as the large piece while the other two work similar to a key. anyhoo, i like some of the technical aspects of things and it looks as if many are coming up with the answers. interesting indeed! i wonder if the points accumulated goes on to the next round or thats it? and yes thank you jbreheny my angel!! xoxo
Wow!! I didn't read the whole post yet as I'm working on the writing contest and about to get ready for bed, but.. You got your entry in the quickest, AND.. You got what I didn't think anyone would get.. You actually got a real lightning strike!! Epic! Holy crap, lol.. I didn't think anyone would do it. That's going to make it tough on your competition I think! The power spot will have to play a major role I think.. Speaking of such.. I think maybe you misunderstood the power spot aspect of this?
I included a link that explained it when we started the round for those who weren't present when we did it last time.
A power spot is a place where you feel extra connected, for example.. There's a spot by where I live near the creek and there's a hill there where I can stand up on top and watch the creek with big towering cottonwood trees all around and I like to stand there and just think about the world and I feel like if there's stress in my life or adversity and I need to get away and think.. I go to a "power spot" to help me clear my mind and think about what's going on.
I may have missed it since I'm really tired, but I don't see a power spot of yours? It's not too late to go out and film one if you did miss it and then just add it to your post!
Doesn't even have to be outside, last time one of our players used their work desk as their power spot.. It's where you feel comfortable! :) Maybe where you do your card readings? :) I dunno! Anyways.. I hope that helps clear things up! And sorry if I just missed it and I'm tired, will officially read your whole post more when I get more time.
PS.. EPIC AMAZING JOB ON THE LIGHTNING SHOT! I think this will go down in IFC history.. And.. I'm curious to see if anyone else will be able to get lightning as well! Wow.. Great job Eagle Spirit!
hi! woot and chimney rock is my power spot. did i have to specifically say it? i wrote i go to ceremony and its sacred and of my ancestral lands. help! 😮
update: okay, i edited the text to reflect CR is my power spot. please let me know if i need to add more wording.
i go into a lot more detail in the link (in my description of 2 pillars) of my first post about the location and why its so special to me.
That's cool! I thought maybe that was your power spot when I first looked at it but didn't see you mention that it was. We actually have a place in Sedona as well called Chimney Rock!
Looks like a beautiful and sacred and "powerful" spot! That's also neat to hear they likely built in accordance with the moon passing through there.
Even though I already answered in discord I'm going to answer again here, especially for anyone else who might see.. But.. It looks good to me! Great entry! You did an awesome job.
thanks apoly! :)
you reminded me and i added the word.
i think when i wrote my first blog on CR others mentioned they had one in their state too, i also saw another one at Ute Mountain Rez. this one is different in its history, architecture and construction. it was used as a yearly meeting place and astronomical site. all explained in blog 1 too. anyhoo, this one is a national monument where all the others are not too. :)
thank you again for the “awesome job.” it was a lot of work as you well know.
Wow. Today is my first day back after being MIA for about a month, due to various pressures. I've missed SO much. Glad I made it in time to witness the final rounds! What an amazing entry @eaglespirit, got to be a winner! Good luck.
@leighleigh hey welcome back!!! hope you had a great time off and its always nice to see people come back. yes a lot happens in a day let a lone a month. does it feel like a different world/realm? LOL!
thank you so much for your support and kind words. i won against my opponent. there will be 6 left standing now. i'm a scared now ... hehe
Wow, that is one of the better shots of the lightning that I have seen in the entries! Congrats! That was impossible for me to get!
@bengy aww thank you so much my Beng! :)
yeah i couldn't believe i got it really ... plus when it was flashing it was so quick. looks like you won too so there are 6 left standing. me ascared ...
Thankfully I'm not up against you this round!! Incredible photos and honestly didn't think anyone would get them all but you sure did! Congrats :D
@kryptocek who are you against? i wonder who will win, i'm biting my nails in response to your entries. good luck! and thank you for the congrats! hugs
Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold
Omg I still don't have any photo entries but 1. 😫😫😫

@artgirl who is your competition? yeah this one was not easy at all, if i hadn't come to a city i'm not sure i would have gotten them all ...
It's... I forget. Haha. Wait I know but can't remember the username. 😂😂😂
Haven't gone out yet so haven't really done any searching. Will start later maybe. 😁
Posted using Partiko Android

Uhm, you know what... I actually thought today was Saturday already. 😂😂😂
Never fear, those items will be found soon. 👍
Posted using Partiko Android
Ahhh. I see. Good luck! There's still a decent amount of time. :)
Thanks! Maybe I will pray to see some lightning too. Hahaha.
You're welcome. And lol! Praying seems to have worked for one other contestant so you may wanna try! :D Or just get really lucky! ._.
it would be interesting if it worked. lets see your powers ...
Haha but I think it's good you got them all the way you did. 😁
Posted using Partiko Android
@artgirl yes i did! woo hoo and it looks like some folks got competitive and got all real photos as well. interesting!! i think my tactic will be not to post until last!! hehe
i think you have until tomorrow, friday.
Oh thought Saturday as well. Uhmmm... 😂

@artgirl yes looks like saturday at 3pm MDT
Yeah. Still have enough time.
Posted using Partiko Android
@artgirl i dunnoooo artsy girlll ieeeee hehe
Good luck finding them! I've actually only located two..and I'm on holidays and not really in that part of the world where some of these items are more common lol! If it was sea turtles and hang loose signs and rainbows lol then maybe I'd have a chance! May need a miracle here haha
Haha thanks and good luck too! We can do this! 😂😂😂
