maybe with a little modification, so that the thing start to bore, and rather than create tunnel behind, fills it...

tactically... they bore their tunnels... those machines arrives, bore it all, and fill it behind them...

the problem is the "shit" of the sandworms need to be compact, otherwise, after a while, it's all gaza that will crumble... and end up as the inner gaza sea...
