Gabriel Akumen, a 47 years old guy is the MD of a fast growing bank in the country.

He lives in a big 8 bedroom mansion on 2 arces of land in Ikoyi, with the latest cars of his choice, security details and maids to do almost everything for him and his family of five.

Obviously living a life beyond his dreams.

With a contented sigh, he sank into his favorite white sofa made from the finest leather in Italy that beautiful Saturday morning overlooking the human size television in the family lounge.

The breath escaped her lungs in a quick sigh of relief as he mutterd silently to himself, "How did I get here?"

He was the head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the bank 10 years ago. He raised a team of vibrant minds and they all came up with ideas that changed the fortune of the bank forever.

How can CSR changed the fortune of a bank forever?

Wait for it!

They came up with people oriented programs to give back to the community. They built an orphanage, gave scholarships and partner with government to equip schools with I.T equipments around the nation.

They collaborated with the HR team of the bank and design a new customer relationship system for all staff at different level

And everything changed!

Their profit soared!

Their reputation improved!

And Gabriel started to climb the ladder of greatness in the bank till he became the MD.

I also remembered the similar story of Daystar Christian Centre, how they transformed Oregun High School and their immediate environment, prepares students for school with bags and books and how they continue to grow.

Please note...

Nobody cares what you know until they know how much you care.

Nobody will patronise you until you've helped them and influenced them. Then they will trust you and patronise you and keep patronising you.

So, stop selling and start helping.

Relationship is the new bea in business.
