Happy Tuesday everyone. This is my first post [ever] in a new series of posts I'm going to start posting every week discussing the technologies I like, why I like them, and what new things those companies are working on or have released.

I would like to stress that my posts are going to be technology focused rather than focusing on day trades: BTFT [Buy the Fking Technology]. It's time we start to move beyond the trading mania and really focus on what the technology is enabling us to do as humans. I hope that my posts help move that needle and I hope that you all enjoy a fresh perspective on our crazy world!

In no particular order:

EOS - The web v3. Crazy high transaction throughput, I will be building my dApps (decentralized applications) on this chain, all kinds of great things coming from the team. The real reason to hold is to gain a share of the network when the token launches in June. The more tokens you own the more bandwidth you're able to consume, you can also sell/give your bandwidth to other people leading to all kinds of cool monetization strategies and new forms of a sharing economy.

VeChain - Check out Apotheosis p1, Apotheosis p2, a real product use case, and an article discussing VeChain's approach to luxury items. VeChain (VEN/VET) is trying to solve counterfeiting and will probably play a huge role in luxury product ownership. It's an Internet of Things play that has serious legs because of it's staking properties. If you click on the Apotheosis links you'll see that owning 10,000+ coins qualifies you to host a masternode. The rewards that you can earn from the system have the potential to be massive over time. A Strong masternode costs roughly $45,000 at the moment.

Stellar Lumins - A strong competitor with Ripple (XRP), XLM aims to provide banking and payment services across the world. These projects are incredibly important for people in impoverished areas of the world where they have access to the internet but no real financial institutions. This is a recurring theme in many conversations within the blockchain community, the potential to boost emerging economies cannot be overlooked. Take a look at this article on how blockchain technology helps solve some of the challenges developing countries deal with on a day to day basis. Lumins is in a great position to immediately fulfill payment and financial security needs.

New Economy Movement - Arguably a competitor to VeChain, NEM markets itself as a "smart asset" system. I think they've got great leadership and grew an insane amount in 2017, I expect no less than great things from them this year. I'm hopeful they'll start coming out with more public, real world systems this year.

ICON - Similar to EOS in that it's a smart contract platform, ICON is based out of Korea and commands an impressive market cap. ICON also participates in the Blockchain Interoperability Alliance along with AION and Wanchain. As we move forward and more real-world products start to develop, we will see a massive need for inter-chain communication. I expect big things from the ICON team and the BIA as a whole.
