Viberate.io aims to decentralize the live music industry

Recently, there has been a flood of new services that want to implement the blockchain technology into collecting royalties for musicians.

Viberate isn't one of them. Unlike the others, Viberate isn't in the recorded music segment. They are tapping into a multi-billion dollar live event industry by offering musicians a place to sell gigs.

Currently they act as some kind of IMDb for music, listing over 120 thousand musician profiles, from Justin Bieber and Metallica to your neighbor's garage band. Every musician on the planet has the chance to open up a free profile. Profiles feature daily updated social media stats, gig dates, content feed and even management and booking contacts. Anyone can add new profiles or claim an existing one. Among those who claimed their official profile is a British superstar pop musician Robbie Williams.

Aside from big names of the music industry, Viberate was chosen by the European Commission's "Music Moves Europe" initiative as one of eight European startups, bound to disrupt the global music market.

Now, Viberate wants to disrupt the artist booking industry by implementing an online booking system, letting musicians sell gigs in exchange for ETH, BTC or their own cryptocurrency - the Vibe. They aren't aiming to big names, who are already signed to big talent agencies. Instead, they want to give small, local musicians a chance to step into the spotlight. Around 80% of all world's musicians don't have an agent and Viberate wants to become everyone's digital booking agent, much like Airbnb is everyone's tourist agency.
