Our unique submersive cooling system

in #ico7 years ago

We're just days away from launching our mining farm! Today we'll tell you about our unique submersive cooling system. You'll learn how this allows us overclock our miners and drive down miscellaneous costs at the same time.

There it goes: we will be using a single-phase passive submersive cooling system by Beeminer Group.

-Submersive – the hardware is fully submerged in the cooling agent.
-Single-phase – the cooling agent remains in the same physical state (in contrast with Novec brand liquids).
-Passive – convection heat transfer cools the hardware down with zero noise emissions.

How it works
The cooling agent is poured into the bath. A cold water pipe runs through the reservoir, cooling down the heat transfer liquid. Hardware is mounted inside the bath, during its operation the heat produced is quickly dissipated, allowing for increased performance and longevity.
Beeminer submersive cooling system advantages

  1. Saves room: this system allows for more hardware to be installed in the same space, cutting out the need for A/Cs, large fans, etc.

  2. Total silence.

  3. Dust-free.

4.Hardware is protected from overheating, which increases its lifespan: at lower temperatures chips degrade much slower, adding years to error-free operation.

  1. All the electricity goes towards powering up the hardware, no need for energy-hungry A/Cs and fans.

  2. Requires lower maintenance – standard mode of operation becomes “submerge and forget”.

You can see how submersive cooling works on video on Beeminer YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKtVLffFs7z3B0h8FB7kkwA

Cooling agent
The cooling agent used is patented by Beeminer.

-This isn't Novec, which has subprime heat transfer characteristics. For $60 per liter that liquid has 4 times less heat transfer capacity than regular water, and is 10 times less thermally conductive. Besides, it begins vaporizing at 39 degrees Celsius which requires an airtight system, further complicating the whole installation.

-This is not a mineral oil that vaporizes bit by bit, or hygroscopic like mineral oils, so it does not require regular drying. It is not flammable like mineral oils are.

Beeminer keeps its cooling agent formula in secret. What we know, however, is that it overcomes all the flaws of Novec and mineral oils. It is non-toxic (you can even drink it), doesn't vaporize, boasts great heat transfer capacity and thermal conductivity, totally non-flammable: you can point a gas burner at it and it won't catch on fire.
We have already paid Beeminer for the submersive cooling equipment and it's soon to arrive at our farm. Beeminer has agreed to install the equipment themselves, and we're happy to say that the cooling system will be warranty protected.
A cooling system like this allows us to push each chip to peak performance, increasing the efficiency of the project for us and our investors alike.

Wow! I’ve never heard of submissive cooling. Interesting concept. When technology gets advanced, environment is less damaged. Looking forward for more update :)
