Malaysia cautions Investors of ICO Risks

Besides China there are now as well further countries raising serious doubts on Initial Coin Offerings (ICO). Just today the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) cautioned Investors in a public release of the huge risks in digital token based fundraising investment schemes.

The Regulators especially outlined that ICO´s may not be regulated at the time being and therefore bear a heightened risk of fraud for anyone who´s getting involved into them. But on the other side their statement as well recommends to at least read the whole whitepaper of an ICO Project in case someone really wants to invest into one of them.

Compared to the strict action from China, banning all ICO activities, this statement is rather unexciting but most probably as well the first sign of official regulations to be introduced in future.

In my opinion ICO´s are slightly overrated and definitely overpriced at the moment. We have to remember that it´s basically nothing else than a fundraising for a startup. A startup, which sometimes doesn´t have anything to present at that time besides a nice website...

Therefore I think it´s definitely a good thing that the officials start to warn and regulate the ICO market as this will prevent further scammers from damaging the name of CryptoCurrencies in general!
