Swiss Alps Mining - Environmentally Friendly Mining

in #ico6 years ago (edited)

When cryptocurrencies were first introduced, there was a single method of being able to get it and that was by mining. There were no ICOs and Airdrops to being with during the early days and mining was the only method to earn the coins.

ICOs, Airdrops, Bounties and other Coin giveaways are a newer concept and many people still associate cryptocurrency to mining if you meant of owning some. But at the beginning there were quite not much adopters of the cryptocurrencies and mining was done by very few and didn't have much of an impact on the the environment.

But, as cryptos became popular and as more and more people jumped on the wagon, the numbers of miners increased drastically. Mining is basically solving difficult math problems, also known as hashes or confirming a transaction and that is all performed by either CPU or GPU. At first the CPUs were enough to mine with, but with increasing difficulties of the problems, which was a fundamental property of Cryptocurrency, it became unviable to earn a profit or even get a ROI via CPU mining. Soon, people found out that mining with a GPU yielded better results.

At the same time, many companies introduced specialized chips that were specifically designed for mining cryptocurrencies. These were known as ASICs or Application Specific Integrated Circuits, the application here being cryptocurrency mining. People started using this along with multi-GPU rigs to mine crypto as it proved to yield better results. Though ASICs tend to use much lesser power than GPU setups, even still it used to be in the range of hundreds of watts. This when done by millions of users meant that there was a sudden increase in the amount of electricity used and heat outputted. It also meant that these miners tend to buy up the GPU for mining causing shortages which tend to ramp the prices sky high.

Swiss Alps Mining

They plan on solving the above mentioned problems by using the abandoned building in the Swiss Alps region due to laws pertaining to the use of it as housing. They have built modular and easily installable mining rigs that can be deployed in these building without any changes to be done to the existing infrastructure. This prevent the heritage and old building from being changed drastically and the cold natural weather there just makes it much better as extra cooling systems are not needed.

This seems to increase the efficiency of the systems quite well and they plan on using renewable sources to power their system. They also plan on implementing heat reclamation systems to reuse the heat being generated to spin turbines. This could be used to generate some more power off of it.

ICO & Team

They plan on powering their platform by introducing the Swiss Alps Mining (SAM) Token which is based Ethereum's ERC-20 Token. Their Public Sale is currently in progress with decremental periodic bonuses and they have just ended their successful Private Sale. It requires for you to be Registered, Whitelisted and KYC Verified in order to participate in the ICO.

The Founders and rest of the team has adequate experience in Software Development, Manufacturing, Blockchain, HR and Community Management respectively. The advisory board consists of renowned and experienced Analysts, Advisors, Engineers, Investors and Entrepreneurs who also bring along their expertise in fields of Community Management, Business Economics, Business Development, Blockchain, Investments and Finance.

Conclusion

While it may seem counterintuitive to many when a company offers powerful mining hardware for others to rent out for mining, instead of just using them to mine for themselves. There may be quite a lot of reasons while some may be for personal benefits and while some may by for reducing the impact that individual mining causes to the economy and the environment, like this project.

They seem to have a strong team with experienced advisory board backing them up. The only place that they fall a little low is that their website is bit too unpolished and rough and needs a bit of corrections as few links don't work as intended and is missing information in certain places. This tends to reduce the credibility of the Project.

All that remains is for the team to deliver on their promise to become a viable and successful alternative to many of the cloud mining services out there.
