Online advertising has always been the main source of revenue of big-name companies like Google, Facebook and almost every single player out there aims to get their share of profits via this method.

Google via their AdSense Platform, was the first to bring it to the masses. The simplicity in the method and access to the huge user base has made it quintessential and the Internet basically runs on this.

I feel that they are fundamentally flawed in the fact that they centralise the power of the playing field (in the case of AdSense) and they tend to result in poor user experience in most cases. When was the last time you have ever enjoyed a webpage without an intrusive ad pop-in in middle of the article that you were reading?

I believe anyone who holds the rights to advertising on the Internet have got the most leverage over the others. In the current state, few countable companies have the control over most of the revenue produced by this method and that makes net neutrality seem like a just a term. I believe it's what drives the content providers to provide us with good, quality stuff and without the incentive of the Monetisation, they'd have no reason to do so.

Sleekplay Platform

Their platform is a blockchain-based monetisation solution that replaces clicks and views on adverts with incentives for the user and payment for the service provider in exchange for their device's computational power.

Sleekplay wants to mainly focus on long-session applications. They are those applications that generally tend to be used for hours at sustained periods of time. Examples: Netflix, Spotify, Online Gaming and so on.

These services are used by the users at long stretches at a time and in the meantime their extra computational power could be used to fund the service provider as well as bringing benefits to the user.

It's a win-win.

While traditional methods provide revenue for just the service provider and not the user, Sleekplay allows for both side to be incentivised.

There will be an API for easy integration and distribution of rewards. Sleekplay takes into account that it's directly competing with the well-established as well as a very competitive landscape and has prepared their foundations as strong as they can.

They have also got a Approval system that uses vetting to prevent dangerous applications to take advantage of this platform. Their whitepaper has detailed description and even formulas on how they'd roll out rewards and their roadmap for the future of this project.

ICO & Team

Conclusion

I do believe that this project has a great potential to shake up the very centralised Internet Monetisation industry, providing both the users as well as content providers with incentives for spending their time on the services. If done correctly and if the team manages to follow up on their promise, we could see a drastic change in the way we soon would see and use content online.

We could have a much better and streamlined user experience, with less intrusive advertisement taking up our screen space. There would tons of new ways to generate revenue and the user base would be much large consisting of not just people surfing the web but also people using the different apps, games and watching movies. The areas for implementation is limitless.
