Cryptocurrency - This is a digital asset designed to work as a medium of exchange, which uses cryptography to secure its transactions, control the creation of additional units and verify the transfer of assets. Most cryptocurrencies protect the authenticity of all transactions through advanced cryptography, maintaining the transaction information engaged in among all users. Each new transaction requires consensus, so transaction histories and account balances cannot be faked or altered in any way. Cryptocurrencies provide users with the potential to shift power from the government and corporate institutions to independent parties.
ICO (Initial Coin Offering) - ICO refers to the means of raising various sums of money from a large number of people in exchange for digital assets, usually similar to shares or bonds. ICO is a method of selling participation in an economy, providing investors with access to the features of a particular project at a future date. These pre-created digital assets can be easily sold and traded through cryptocurrency exchanges.
Token - This is a digital asset, which is sold for fiat currency (USD, EUR) or a cryptocurrency of liquid value (Bitcoin, Ethereum, and so on). Tokens are designed to perform a variety of functions. For example, owning a company’s token allows the owner to access the specific services offered by that company.
Mining - This simply means the verification process of a transaction. Mining is also a process whereby new coins are created. Anyone with essential hardware and access to the internet can become a miner and earn money, but the cost of industrial hardware and electricity has limited mining for Bitcoin and certain alternative coins today to large-scale operations.
