Opiria: Regain Control of Your Personal Data

in #ico6 years ago (edited)

The Data brokerage industry has exploded into a multi billion dollars industry, this goes to show how sought after consumers data is. Data brokers specialise in the collection, analysis, and packaging of our personal data and reselling it to whoever has need for it. Companies like Google, Facebook, and Twitter today are worth billions of dollars due to the backlog of users' data they have been able to gather over the years, take away this data and their revenue generation will take a hit. The most sort after product today is not gold nor other precious stones but personal data. Companies understand the usefulness of consumers personal data and they go to any length to acquire them. Databrokers who understand how precious personal data is go to any length to acquire people’s personal data and sell it to almost anyone who is willing to pay for it without considering what they will use the data for. The owners of this data are left with no financial incentives, only the big players keep enriching themselves. In the wake of a data breach, owners of the data on these platforms are left at security risks.

The data brokerage industry is only profitable to few companies, results in increase in revenues for data brokers and personalised ads and products for the consumers. The Opiria platform is democratising the data brokerage industry and putting the power back to the consumers, where it belongs. Consumers will not only benefit from companies knowing what they need and producing products and services to carter to these needs but will also be monetized for letting companies hear their voice. Through the Opiria platform, consumers will be able to take their share of the multi billion dollars data industry by securely trading their personal data in exchange for PDATA tokens which can be traded on DEX and centralised exchanges for other tokens or fiat. The Opiria platform will oversee the seemless and trsutless transfer of personal data between consumers and companies who need the data. Not only will consumers earn from trading their personal data, they will also know who they are sharing their data with and what purpose it will be used for. Consumers will either opt in or out. Apart from trading their personal data, consumers will also earn PDATA tokens from participating in surveys and through other rewarding programs on the platform.

Sure this sound interesting but I'm on the fence on this one, I won't easily trust any third party with my personal data not even for a price.

I believe your fears are not unfounded but you're missing the point of the Opiria platform and blockchain technology. Irrespective of if you are willing to share your data or not, data brokers will continue to collect them as long as you have an online presence. Opiria is making it possible for users to either opt in if they wish and earn tokens for their personal data.
