Cardstack Use Cases

Ten Second Overview

CardStack allows users to connect multiple cloud and DApps into one simple interface where they are presented as cards. All payments for these DApps will be paid for using the CARD token allowing users to no longer have to hold multiple native tokens. Cardstack will work over different blockchains using adapters making it so payments, data, workflow, and other things are all on one OS, regardless of what platform it is built on.

Cardstack is a really complex project, look around the web and you'll see everyone trying to explain it. I think the easiest way to break it down is to show it through use cases.

Case 1: Netflix and Chill

Now
A couple wants to have a date at home "Netflix and Chill" but one wants Chinese food and the other Mexican. The movie they want to watch isn't on Netlix either so they have to order from a digital movie service. Each person takes out their phone and orders their own food, making two payments plus one for the movie.

With Cardstack
The couple does this a lot so they created a stack of cards called "Netflix and Chill". This stack lets them order their food from different restaraunts and pick out their movie on a single page interface, making only one payment using CARD in the process. Even cooler is that the tip is automatically calculated and distributed to each delivery guy based on how fast they arrive at the house.

Case 2: Digital Musician

Now:

An independent musician creates music using paid software (app). During the songmaking process the musican uses multiple synthesizers (app) and instruments (app) that they bought in full. When the song is complete the artist pays a service to list the song on itunes, spotify and more (service). When the artist recieves royalties they must distribute the royalties manually amongst all parties involved.

With Cardstack
The Musican creates a Cardstack that includes cards for audio software, synths, instruments, itunes interface, cryptocurrency wallet and payment distribution. The musician only pays for the software and synthesizers he needs and pays per use swiping their card. The royalty distribution is created allowing automatic disperspal of royalties to all parties in the correct proportions.
All payments for apps and services are paid for in CARD. Royalties can be paid in any cryptocurrency with no additional work from the musician.

Case 3: 3d Art for Decentraland Customer

Now
A digital 3d artist has been tasked with purchasing appropriate land and creating a virtual building in Decentraland. The artist currently uses a high powered computer for 3d art creation, manually loads the artwork into Decentraland and handles payments via Metamask.

With Cardstack
The artist creates a stack of cards that integrates Golem, Decentraland (DApp), and a payment and escrow system. The artist uses only CARD to purchase rendering power from Golem (instead of GNT) and land in Decentraland (instead of MANA). The payment from the customer automatically adds any extra fees and pays the artist when complete.

User Interface and Future Use Cases

As more useful DApps are developed in the future the need for Cardstack will increase. Imagine being able to order an Uber, get concert tickets, order a drink at the bar all from one screen on your phone. No tab switching, no multiple payments just single page swiping.

The ability to integrate apps and DApps is very powerful and will allow users to experience the power and security of the blockchain without having to deal with all of its complexities.
