Telegram fake ICO circulate on the web

in #ico7 years ago (edited)

Among the most anticipated ICOs of 2018, Telegram is easily at the top of the list. However, big doubts are running through the web about the authenticity of some offers ...

Recently, the rumor about the arrival of an ICO for Telegram was confirmed with the leak of an apparently official white paper : https://techcrunch.com/2018/01/08/telegram-open-network/

Thus, the site gramtoken.io was born. A sleek design, a white paper well supplied, the presentation of a clear team ... Everything seemed good, and borrowing a "official" reassuring. The site offers to participate in an ICO that is destined to success, and it is possible to contribute in BTC or ETH in exchange for tokens GRAM.

However, the community was beginning to doubt more and more about the validity of this site. Indeed, no mention of an ICO is on Telegram's official website, which is already very strange. What's more, some Twitter users have noted that the Gramtoken.io domain name was registered on January 1, 2018 via NameCheap, and uses the Cloudflare certification service. This adds to the doubts, because the official Telegram website is registered via GoDaddy and uses the GoDaddy SSL certification service.

... and doubt was confirmed!

This morning, after nearly three weeks of silence, the founder of Telegram - Pavel Durov - has finally pronounced on this so-called "official website of ICO GRAM".

The mystery is lifted: the site GramToken.io is indeed a scam! We regret that Pavel Durov did not intervene earlier, indeed, investors have had plenty of time to jump on this project ...

UPDATE

At the time of writing this article, the scam site has been closed. It would seem then that doubt is no longer allowed: gramtoken.io was indeed an elaborate fraud! Very bad news for investors, the adventure is apparently about to end with an exit scam, may be the largest to date.
