Ice Age was caused by the firestorm that lasted 1000 years

in #ice6 years ago

New extensive and detailed study found that 12,800 years ago about a tenth of the Earth's surface is covered with a sudden raging fires. They were serious competitors in the fires that destroyed the dinosaurs and were caused by the remnants of a comet that was measuring about 100 kilometers in diameter. Once the dust has encircled Earth, it is unlocked mini-ice age, which is kept cold planet for a full 1000 years, and then after it comes out of real ice age, during which was all covered with glaciers.

"A large number of witnesses with different chemical signatures - carbon dioxide, nitrate, ammonia and others suggest that stunning 10% of the Earth's surface or about 10 million square kilometers have been consumed by fire," explained the team who conducted the study. One part of the analysis was conducted on models in the levels of pollen, which showed that coniferous forests suddenly burned and were replaced by poplar trees. They are a type of which is known that it can survive and waste ground, such as in a land devastated after fires. In fact, parts of the comet that disintegrated in space, still flying around the solar system many years later.

Hey @martinio6

Thanks for posting.

It's amazing with how much detail they can model past events and they are making break throughs all the time.

It's fascinating and pretty terrifying at the same time. Can you imaging a forest fire covering 10 percent of the planet. I guess all the oxygen would be burnt up in one go so we wouldn't be around to see the results anyway!

Very cool stuff.

Cheers, Gaz.
