More than 1,000 child sex predators were arrested during the Juvenile Justice and Crime Prevention Office funded by Operation Broken Heart. The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force Program helps state and local Law enforcement agencies develop an effective response to technology-facilitated child sexual exploitation and Internet crimes against children.
The arrests marked the end of Operation Broken Heart, a coordinated investigation operation to intensify efforts to identify and arrest suspected child sexual predators in April and May 2017. The 61 working groups of the " Man ICAC, funded by OJJDP grants, includes more than 4,500 federal, local and tribal institutions that participated in the operation.
The operation targeted suspects who:
(1) own, manufacture and distribute child pornography;
(2) engaging in the online seduction of children for sexual purposes;
(3) commercial sexual exploitation or child prostitution;
(4) child sex tourism or traveling abroad for sexual reasons
ICAC task forces conducted Operation Broken Heart in 2014. The Special Forces also delivered 1,245 Internet Security Presentations to more than 99,000 youth and adults during the two months. Estimated responses to offenders using the Internet, on-line communication systems or computer technologies for Exploiting Children. To date, ICAC working groups have reviewed 705,963 child labor complaints, resulting in the arrest of 75,688 people.
In addition, since the creation of the ICAC program, 585,604 law enforcement officers, prosecutors and other professionals have been trained. On techniques to investigate and prosecute cases related to ICAC.
