IBM KNOWS WHAT IT IS DOING !

Food contamination is one of the major concern that giant FMCG firms think should be dealt with. Not losing up short in this race IBM has stood up to partner with these firms and help them do this by our very own reliable technology of "BlockChain".
After addressing information security in its cloud-based, permissioned blockchain, IBM is now turning to food security. Being already solved challenges for finance & logistics industries, IBM is looking up for more problems to solve in supply chain industry.

IBM is approaching the problem of consumer health suffering by using distributed ledger technology, which will maintain the records of transactions digitally rather tracking it physically.
As per its trials with Walmart in China & U.S. - using it to store supply chain data, it was possible to trace a product from its origin to the store's shelf in seconds rather than usual period of weeks.
Such a pace would make it easier for the department to evaluate health risks, identify sources of contamination, and organize product recalls.

TRANSPARENCY is their ultimate goal. In this growing ecosystem, they want their whole system to be transparent which will ultimately make it easier for them to track down the problem, thus helping them to make amendments at the earliest.
This will result in building a safer system for their customers, having growers, suppliers, processors, distributors, and retailers put their information on the same blockchain, and providing permission access to it, thus giving consumers greater confidence in their food, and regulators more powerful tools to ensure food safety.
