HyperVerse | The Next Chapter

The HyperVerse was created to be the best gateway into the Metaverse and is was always meant to be the fastest way to make your imagination a reality and this is why our mantra is “Where reality ends and imagination begins”, for a couple of years, that mantra has guided every step we take, that mantra helped us scale HyperVerse from just a couple thousand members to tens of thousands of members because we created an inclusive ecosystem where every imagination is turned into reality.

         The Current Situation

The Exploit of early 2022 started a chain reaction that has culminated to this point, soon after the exploit and the team realized the extent of the damage, a decision was made at that point to focus solely on making things right and making our members whole again but a decision was also made to keep the events as quiet as possible to avoid sabotage of our efforts and most importantly, we wanted to cut cost as much as possible without having to maintain more staff than was necessary for our recovery efforts.

We are just starting to realize the extent of damage that our silence has done to the community, There has been so much misinformation, Distrust, and Misdirection in the Hyper Community and regaining that trust without having to compromise our own security has been an uphill battle.

     A Forensic Analysis Of Twitter

In our Twitter Page, shortly after we discovered the exploit, it is quite easy to see when the shift happened from HyperVerse related content to HyperNation related content in May 2022.

Above is the last tweet made by the Official HyperVerse team on the 18th is May when we discovered that something might be wrong with the system and it’s continued health, the very next day, on the 19th of May 2022, we lost total control on that platform and that was when the shift happened from HyperNation.

We considered fighting but at that point, it was obvious that the damage was extensive and the takeover was well planned and executed and so we made the hard decision to focus our efforts on recovering the stolen funds and try to make our members whole again.

An attempt was also made by the team in late 2022 where we tried to salvage the situation by migrating our members to HyperCosmos but that was short lived as well because we made the mistake of trying to link users information and unknowingly adding corrupt files to our servers.

              The Next Step

The Past few days has been a flurry of activity, since the Member Refunds Program was announced on the 4th of January 2023, we have been working hard to fast track the refund process and we have been building an automated system to ensure that there is as little human input as possible in the process, this would ensure that the skeleton staff assigned to handling this process would be enough to build the community on the correct steps to take without having to review documents or initiating payments manually, this are basically trying to remove the likelihood for human error.

          The Migration Process

We would like to ensure every of our investors that we have put extra precautionary security measures in place to ensure that mistakes of the past are never repeated, most of our verification and withdrawal process has been 100% automated and specific verification steps and processes has to be followed for user identity to be verified and withdrawals activated in their individual accounts.

-The exact steps required for a successful claim of the refund are as follows:

1. Registration on the refunds platform
2. Navigate to the Verification page and complete the KYC (Passing this KYC qualifies you for the refund)
3. Add your preferred withdrawal wallet.
4. If your verification request is approved, you would get an automated email asking you to make a security deposit of 30% of your total funds, this is an effective anti-fraud system that ensures that only real users completes this step, it was initially meant to be a surprise twist for exploiters.
5. Once the above steps are complete and the system detects the payment, your account would be activated for withdrawal and you can proceed to withdraw your refunds in your preferred Stablecoin (USDT, USDC & BUSD).

The Refund Program would commence on the 20th of January 2023 11:00 UTC and the link would be shared in the telegram group.
