The tomato area was getting a jungley feel again.

Did a bit of cleaning up: bottom leaves removed, plants twisted, sideshoots removed. Also had to lower a plant for the first time this season.

Lots of the salads bolted so it's time to remove them as the leaves are getting too bitter now.

This is how the roots look into the plugs. Not a lot of growth inside the main tubes; I guess it's because of the slightly too high temperature; it didn't seem to harm the plants though.

All bolted lettuce plants were removed. I've left the plugs in there to block sun light as I don't want algae growing in there.

About a week ago I've found a little volunteer tomato plant growing between the pavement slabs.

I've also found what I think is a cucamelon; a fruit must have gotten smushed by me and a seed germinated this season. It found the string tied to my ceiling window and grew up on it.

I'm going to try to save it and move into the main system. I've added a jiffy pellet around the stem so that the plant will root along the stem making it easy for me to transplant.

Thanks

Interesting update!
At some point, you just have to trim the tops off the tomato plants or they just grow right up to the roof. Mine haven't gotten that far yet, but they're getting close now.

Thanks!
I'm just lowering the plants by giving them more line and moving the line forward on it's support. You can see at the back of the 2nd photo the plant that was too tall and was moved on the central support line. Eventually that plant will be on the left line moving towards the point from where the pic was taken.
Last season I had plants that were 5-6 metres long; I only top them at the end of the season when there is no time left for flowers to set.

Ah, I understand.
