Football in the Red Light
Here the soccer hooligans are in fine form and truly travel in large packs. They congregate in groups of ten to twelve and boisterously walk the cobbled streets. You can certainly tell they’re not Dutch because the Dutch are quiet. Here is a way to appear local: shut up; lest someone believe you are a British soccer hooligan.
Imagine two soccer hooligans meeting randomly on the street. One soccer hooligan says to the other, “You’re a soccer hooligan? I’m a soccer hooligan!”
The other replies, “It’s a small world. Let’s fight.”
Later on one of them wonders, “Clive, do you ever think by constantly fighting over football we’re perpetuating a negative stereotype?”
