There has been an increase in the rate in the violation of human rights of recent, many of which are done by law enforcement officials themselves. There is need to preserve the right of individuals to enable them function properly in the society to aid development. This article is written to emphasize the negative effects of human rights violations.

The first effect of human rights violation is loss of self-confidence. The esteem of an individual is automatically reduced when his rights are violated. This is because he feels cheated and begins to see less of himself or what he can become. When this happens, it reduces the ability of the individual to function without stigmatizing himself.

Also, social stigmatization is encouraged as the peers of such individuals begin to make fun of them. All these affects productivity and the general activities of the individual. We should all make efforts to protect human rights because a win for one is a win for all.
