The human machine interface.
I've been obsessed with mind/machine interfaces for a very long time
UX scratches the surface somewhat but it's overly focused on short shots, not moon shots
The iphone itself was a moonshot in terms of interaction versus capacitive screen of yesteryear
But we could do so much more, why don't we?
A good example of how far human beings can fuse with their machine tools is cars and excavators. Professionals especially, after decades of using a single vehicle, they become so adjusted at using it, all those faults and problems with the engine or different aspects of the vehicle, they're now workaround habits in the mind of the driver
The capacity of the human brain to mould around the task at hand has been gruesomely underutilized in commercial devices and our entire computer leveraging efforts.
UX mostly works on the digital side of it, and only considers the average or lowest common denominator human beings
And we could all be power users if the interface is done well enough. I wish I could bring that power to us more (to me more precisely :P )
