How to make a decoupage wooden tray: How to: Weekly contest by @tonie

Greetings to all steemians! Today I will show you my DIY tray decoupage. We bought a tray of strawberry a few days ago, and I decided to keep this wooden tray which I can use it for my future project. I get bored these days and when I saw this tray while fixing our stuff, "why not make another DIY craft again?" I immediately grabbed my materials and started my project. In this project, I've learned it from my mother-in-law. She used to make some craft too. You can make decoupage in any material especially in recycling either empty bottle, box, tray, and more. Don't just throw away your things, make a recycle by doing some craft.

Place your newspaper on the flat surface where you can start painting your wooden tray. I chose beige acrylic which is similar to my table napkin design. Start to paint all over the tray and repeat the coating if you are not satisfied with the result, then let it dry or you can use a hair dryer to dry it faster.

To make it easier in cutting the table napkin, use a brush and water to tear it up and choose the designed pattern. Then start to stick the table napkin into the wooden tray using the glue. I decided to cover all the surface with the napkin to cover the darker color of the outer part of the tray. Continue covering the tray with the designed napkin then let it dry.

Apply another coat of glue all over the surface and stick your napkin. Do it slowly since napkin will easily get tear off. Actually you can peel off the other sheet of the napkin before sticking it up to the tray but I decided not. Once you're done, apply another coat of glue again for the better result. Make sure there's no air buble or else the result will not be nice. If you have seen some air bubble, simply cut it off then apply glue. Let it dry and you can apply another coat of glue again.
