WHAT IS WOUND?

Wound is any cut in the outer surface of the body or any impairment in the blood vessels.

WOUND CAN EITHER BE*:

*Open

*Closed

TYPES/CLASSIFICATION OF WOUND

Lacerated wound,

*Incised wound,

*Punctured wound,

*Abrasion or graze wound &

*Gunshot wound.

MANAGEMENT OF WOUND
*Safety first.

*Lay down the casualty or tell him/her to sit comfortably(lift the limb if possible).

*Apply pressure: on the wound or
pressure point.
*In the case of internal bleeding,
apply:
*cold formulation.

*Apply tourniquet (all precautions).

DRESSING OF WOUNDS

*Disinfect the wound,

*Wash with water,

*Cover with any clean thing,

*Don't apply any lotion except diluted mercurochrome tincture iodine, etc,

*Use disinfectant if available and

*Refer the casualty to a nearly hospital/clinic.
