Hello dear steemians this time I present a very nice and simple work in which I have used the Japanese amigurimi technique to make a brand pages of the famous and controversial Mexican artist Frida Khalo. I commented that it is the first time I weave a amigurumi and I had no idea what it could mean because I only saw them as cute and tender dolls but nothing more. Researching a little I realized that I could not be more wrong.

Not only is it a decorative figurine or a simple toy, but the Amigurumis seek to nourish the spirit of the child that we all carry inside. According to Japanese tradition, each Amigurumi has a soul, which will accompany us and be our friend and confidant for life, providing us with protection and comfort when we feel sad or confused. In some cases, they are used as personal amulets and also in homes, businesses and jobs.

They also represent the reminder that we are alive and that we must be happy and that we must always overcome those situations that may cause stress and sadness.

Materials:

Knitting yarn skin color.
Black knitting yarn.
Red knitting yarn.
Yellow knitting yarn.
Green knitting yarn.
Knitting needle nº 2.
Needle to embroider.
2 black pearls
2 white pearls
Filling.
Scissors.

Step by Step

To start Frida's head you have to make a magic ring and inside I'm going to place 6 half points (mp). Once I have them ready I close the ring with a slip stitch. I start the next lap by lifting a chain and at each point of the previous I place 2 mp (1 increase) which would give me a total of 12 mp (6 increases) and so I will complete laps and adding points in each of the following way:

3rd round: 2 mp (1 increase) - 1 mp - 2 MP - 1 mp and so we continue with the sequence until completing the round which would give me a total of 18 mp.

4th round: 2 mp - 1 mp -1 mp - 2mp and so on until closing the turn, we will have 24 mp.

5th round: 2 mp - 1mp - 1 mp - 1 mp - 2 mp and the sequence is repeated until closed. At the end of the round we will have 30 mp.

From round No. 6 to round No. 10 we will make mp (half points) without increases or decreases. At the end we have to be a total of 30 mp. As you can see, Frida's head is taking shape.

From round No. 11 you start to work with decreases in this way:

It is lifted and chain, then the front chain is taken from the first and second base point is made a low point (pb), this would be the first decrease and the next 3 points is a 1 mp in each of them and continue with the sequence until the end of the round. When completed it should be 24 mp.

Before continuing to close we make a stop to put the eyes to our Frida. For this we count from the first round and we are located on turn 8 where the first eye is placed and then for the separation we count 6 mp and we place the second eye. You can use glue or as in my case thread and needle.

In round number 12 we continue closing following this sequence: take the first and second chains of the first base points, make a low point (equivalent to a decrease) and then 2 mp points in the next 2 base points. It is repeated until the end of the round and we must have a total of 18 points.

Before continuing to close, we place the filling.

And so between decreases and half points already has Frida's head shape.

Now it's up to the hair, but we take the black thread and repeat what we did in the head only until the turn number 8. On the number 9 we will leave the front opening which forms a chain at the beginning - 1 pm - 1pma (mid-high point) - 24 pm - 1 pma - 1 pm. The fabric is turned and the operation is repeated until the end of the turn and the thread is cut.

With eyebrow and needle the eyebrows are placed starting from a mid point between the eyes.

To make the flowers on his head, a chain of 10 points is made and we return to them by making a sequence of alternating midpoints with slipped points until we reach the end. It is closed and left a long thread in which a needle is placed and begins to roll and sew the base to the shape of a flower. Then they can be sewn or glued to the head.

To make the base of the mark pages, 3 chains are lifted, we return to them and 2 pm in each one, we return to the fabric and in 2pm we raise in each previous point, we turn it over and now we raise the 4 points that will serve as base for the width of our strip. Each time we complete 4 points we rotate the fabric and continue lifting until it has the length of our preference.

Once the base is finished we fix it with thread and needle to the head and place an ornament on the tip and that is how our Frida amigurumi marks pages should be.
