Dead Cordless Drill Conversion.

in #howto8 years ago

Do you have a drill that is cordless and the battery is entirely worthless?
Do you have an old 400 watt or better power supply that you don't need?

Here are simple instructions on converting an old cordless drill into a powered corded drill (7.2 volt)
Step 1. Unplug the useless battery.
Step 2. Solder on a 4 pin molex to the terminals inside the drill.
Step 3. Take your old power supply and short the green line to a black line.

Your power supply should turn on when you power the switch.
Step 4. Plug the female molex from the drill into the male molex from the power supply.

That should do it, drill away. If the power supply trips just turn it on and off for a few seconds. If you burn it up, who cares you got some use out of it. In the above uppermost photo I have it attached to a grain mill for brewing. Works great.
