How To Make A Sand Scoop for Metal Detecting
Harr, there is treasure in that sand, matey!
Hey Guys
Welcome to How to Make
A Cheap Sand Scoop
Yesterday, my friend @creatr was asking me about the construction of my sand scoop. Here is a video where I tell about it:
You know the Old Guy is a bit on the thrifty side, and there is no way he is going to drop hundreds on a nice stainless steel scoop. I made this one years ago and it has worked flawlessly. It is not too heavy and I just leave it sit out in the truck bed.
I used a 45 degree 4 inch PVC with a cap and drilled it out with a bunch of holes. You need them to be smaller than a dime, but big enough for some of the rocks to go out.
I used 1/2 EMT which is electrical conduit material that is rather stiff. I also used a cement wedge anchor bolt and smashed the EMT around it so there is no movement at all.
Get your scoops ready coz there is gold in that sand alright!
Thanks for stopping by!

That’s pretty cool , I’m gonna try this out during the summer times
Oh that's great. It is a fun hobby!
Thrifty and handy, Paul:) Steem is almost back a 3 dollars:)
Yes Ma'am. Im seeing 3.13. Not to shabby!
A nice slow climb up is what I am hoping for ... give the system time to build itself:)
Yaarg, "there's a pirate out there, Marge, wading for treasure. Wonder what time period he's from. " Looks like a lot of fun. I think one could get pretty in-deep wandering around, finding treasure. More ways than just over 'yer waders deep. As in at night with a headlamp, staying ahead of the droppage. Enjoy, I know I would.
Oh yeah there are lots of guys that do night hunts, especially on the ocean coz they want to hunt at low tide!
And so they can get the good stuff, before the sun comes up and all the cool finds have been 'got' by the night owls. Do you to at night?
now you got to sell this for steem of SBD.
me too! Love this!
Maybe I'll try it! :)
Fantastic!
Thanks for sharing the details of a simple but very useful tool. :D
