Tilt-Shift House
The project site for this 195 m2 residence is a north-westerly 350 m2 parcel with a panoramic view of the hills and the city of Los Angeles. The residence is adjacent to several important mid-century modern houses.
Due to the proximity of these neighboring properties and the lack of available natural space due to the limited size and extreme slope of the lot, a series of plan changes have been generated to create many outdoor living spaces in the area. volume of the residence. Organized as a stacked and staggered volume of three levels, the house is located on an underground garage inserted into the hill. The second floor, mainly an open plan, accommodates the living spaces. The third floor, consisting of the bedrooms, is accessed by a double-height volume with an internal staircase that, in conjunction with the windows and the skylight, acts to naturally ventilate the residence and ensure traffic on all floors. Strategically located openings, exterior stairs, patios and terraces around the perimeter connect the house to the multiple and diverse landscapes of the site.
