Game Spotlight: Hotline Miami

Game spotlight:

Game spotlight is a series of short blogs I will post regularly on my page, the idea is to cover all types of small and indie games across all platforms that I think are great fun to play and are not to expensive. I personally love playing games made by small studios and independent creators because they tend to be more unique, so you are often in for a lot of surprises.

Hotline Miami:

Hotline Miami is a rather brutal top-down shooter, the game is single player only and through the game you play as an antihero going through the levels killing of the mob members of the underworld.

The game really doesn't hold back when it comes to violence and brutality, as you will find out from playing there is multiple ways of killing your enemies.

Throughout the game you play as the same character however you can change the mask he has;

Owl (Rasmus)

Tiger (Tony)

Pig (Aubrey)

Walrus (Earl)

Overall there is 26 different masks that all have slightly different affects or bonuses, other than the original chicken mask, you can unlock most masks through just playing however there is a few that have to be unlocked through hidden missions.

There is also 35 different weapons which gives a good range of different ways you can get through each level, so if you do complete the game and want to make it harder you can play through only using certain types of weapons.

I personally like playing through this game because of how difficult it is, you need to react to things quickly but at the same time you need to go through the levels relatively slowly to not alert to many enemies at the same time, also your character isn't given that much health so it really is a question of outplaying the computer.
