HORTICULTURAL CROPS

Horticulture is the cultivation of garden crops.Horticultural crops are highly perishable .they cannot be stored for a long period of time because they have high water content(70-85%).They can be eaten in a living state.


Horticulture is the branch of agriculture that deals with intensive cultured plant directly used by man,by people for food,for medicinal purposes or for aesthetic gratification.
Horticulture is divided into 3:

• Pomology is the study of fruits or production of fruit crops
• Oleiculture is the production of vegetables like fruit vegetable and leaf vegetable
• Ornamental like floriculture and landscape
