You may feel like to start something from zero or behind.
But I won't recommend that.
What you like to do may already be realized by someone else.
Or you have an alternative way, or you can use resources which you or someone else has to realize it, and no need to start from scratch.
I understand that the experience to start from zero or behind makes you confident.
Or some people might value it higher than anything else.
However, in this era, things are at very high levels, and just trying it won't help much.
You need to be ready to commit everything of you to reach the levels.
For example, let's say you are studying to create movies and compose.
It is challenging to be at professional levels of both.
Other professionals commit full-time to one thing, and if you study two, you need to be professional with half their time.
Another example is, let's say you are trying to make applications without using any frameworks or APIs (frameworks are tools to make apps. APIs are ready-made parts of apps. ) to learn them.
But these days, what is required in application engineers in the job markets may be to develop new applications swiftly by utilizing frameworks and APIs well.
If you want to learn to develop frameworks and APIs, then it may be more helpful to join opensource projects, which develop those.
Be rational.
If you want to do something which somebody else has been doing, then use it to do a thing which is new for the world, else it is the loss of society, I think.

でもたぶん、その必要はないのだと思うのだよね。
あなたのやろうとしてることはすでに誰かがやっていることだったり。
今あるものを使いまわすことで事足りたり。
今ある資産でプラスから始めることもできるのかもしれない。
確かに、ゼロやマイナスから始めた経験は自信になるし。
人によってはそっちのほうがより評価してくれるかもしれないし。
でも、今の時代は何もかも高度化していて、到達しなければならないレベルがとても高いから、ちょっとした興味本位でかじっても、どこへも行きつけないのが関の山ではないかなと思う。
例えば、あなたは映像と作曲を両方勉強しているとして。
片方だけでプロレベルになるより、両方でプロレベルになるのは、難しいと思う。
プロはフルタイムコミットでプロたらしめているのに、２つのわらじを履いたら、その半分の時間で他のプロたちと渡り合わなければならない。
例えば、アプリを作ろうとしていて、フレームワークやAPI（既成の部品のこと）一切使わずに開発するのは、確かに勉強にはなるだろうけれど、現代で求められてるのは、フレームワークやAPIを速やかに使いこなせるようになることだと思うんだよね。
フレームワークやAPIを開発したいのであれば、独学で四苦八苦するより、フレームワークやAPIを開発してるオープンソースのプロジェクトに参加したほうが、よっぽど勉強になるのではないかなと思う。
合理的になる必要があるのかなと思う。
例えばあなたが始めようとしてることが、すでに他の誰かがやっているのであれば、それを使ってまた別のアイデアを実行すればいいのかもしれない。
敢えて競合してくっていうのは、理に叶わない、社会的な損失だと思うんだよね。
