Mining infrastructure is a weakness that can bring down Bitcoin

in #hopdh2 years ago

In Greek mythology, Thetis drowned his infant son Achilles in the Styx River to give him the power of helplessness. Achilles becomes a seemingly invincible warrior, but is killed when a poisonous arrow hits him in the ankle, where Thetis holds him while drowning him in the river. He only missed a small place, but it was the fall of Achilles.

In modern times, the word Achilles heel has become synonymous with any strong force that is snatched away by an unexpected or small weakness, and history is littered with powerful individuals and entities who have fallen just like that.

For the past 13 years, Bitcoin has been an extremely powerful force that has resisted all attacks. This has given many Bitcoin advocates an air of confidence, but it can be bad or even dangerous. The genius behind Bitcoin is obvious, but it does not make it perfect or impenetrable. In the years to come, decades and centuries, unimaginable variables will emerge, and perhaps one of the greatest strengths of Bitcoin will be manipulated and revealed as the weakness of Satoshi's heel.
