Honey extraction
We had a hive not make it through winter, sadly. Since we chose to harvest honey in the Spring, we could take this hives harvest.
5 quarts of golden yumminess!!

This is neat!
What does the third picture show?
And also, sorry if this seems silly, but did the bees die off this winter because lack of food? @lonestarpoet
The 3rd (last) picture is a close up of the bee hive frames inside the honey extractor.
The bees will consume the honey that they stored during the spring, summer, and fall. Since we were able to harvest 1 1/4 gallons of honey, they did not run out of food. I am guessing that they either got too cold or they might have been too weak (too low of a population to stay warm enough).
They didn't survive the cold snap..
The picture is honey coming out of the extractor and being filtered.
