Home Made Coconut Oil
Yesterday, I made some coconut oil at home using the hot process or by heating/cooking.
Bought two pieces of dried/mature coconut in the local market. It costed me fifty pesos or around a dollar for the two coconuts. Machine pressing service in the market to extract the coconut milk is free.
So, brought home a bag of coconut milk and a bag of coconut water. I placed the coconut water in the fridge and drank it later. The coconut milk was placed in the pan such as shown in the photo below.
We used charcoal instead of the gas burner. When the coconut milk started to boil, start mixing it from time to time to avoid getting toasted or burnt.
When the clear oil comes out and there are small balls or bits formed, it means you are done with it already. The small coconut balls are edible. Separate it from your oil.
Then let the oil cooled down before filtering and transferring it to a container. With the two coconuts, I was able to get or produce 180 ml or 3/4 cup of coconut oil.
Photos were taken using my mobile phone.
