Long days and late nights

Winter in Texas; Its an uncomfortable rollercoaster of sweating when chilly and being chilly while you sweat. But mostly its nice. We have a couple cold nights coming up for the holiday, and as such there have preparations to be done.

Firstly, we heat our cabin with a wood stove, kindly given to us by friends of my wife. That means wood must be cut, and since we were busy this spring and summer building the cabin and building and tending gardens, that means scramble! Luckily we have some standing dead trees that need to come down as is. Don't need deadfalls in the same area as a four year old boy. So I've been cutting and splitting the wood and working on the chainsaw and doing some more.

That's only the beginning because the wood will still need to be fed to the fire at night. While I'm doing the cutting by day, my wife, Terra tends the garden and has been preparing for the cold snap in that respect. We have finally almost gotten the water line completely buried, and about time too!

Its late, there's more to do tomorrow. Not mentioning finishing up on the Christmas gifts, straightening up inside the cabin(how can one boy destroy it all so completely and so quickly??), trying to get the greenhouse up, make time to play with our son, keep everyone fed, the list goes on..

I better turn in. All i can say is hooray for Coffee!
