Building An End Table Using Solar Power And Reclaimed Lumber
I built an end table using only solar power and reclaimed lumber because our tiny home does not have any storage. This end table fits nicely next to the couch and has storage underneath a hinged lid.
I bought a couple truck loads of lumber from a local saw mill this summer. It had been sitting outside a long time and there were worm holes in the wood. But I saw a beautiful end table inside all that gray surface area.
I planed the wood down to reveal the wood inside. Then I cut the pieces to fit. I had some nice real 2x12 lumber for the top pieces and some 1x9 for the sides. A couple pieces of 2x5 were ripped to form the legs.
I am running my entire wood shop off the grid using the power of the sun. I have a battery bank in my electronics shop with 800 watts of solar panels charging them up. This is enough to power all of my wood shop tools as needed and when they are needed because most tools are only used intermittently.
I am using three pieces of the 2x12 lumber to make a 15 inch wide by 36 inch deep end table. This fits perfectly next to our tiny house couch. I could not find anything to properly fit in there so I decided to make my own.
The storage underneath will be nearly 9 inches deep by 15 inches wide and by 36 inches long. This gives me a lot of space to toss things inside.
